I don't have an IMDB Pro subscription, but I wonder what this one is going to be: www.imdb.com/title/tt19353036/?ref_=fn_ft_tt_1The title of the project is, you guessed it, "Don't Fear the Reaper". It came up as a movie search. There is also another one in development titled "Fear the Reaper" The first one says it's a thriller, the second says horror. If anybody has a PRO membership, tell us if anybody we might know is listed in their categories: Note: Because this project is categorized as in development, the data is only available on IMDbPro and is subject to change.

Too bad Buck / BÖC didn't somehow get an all-encompassing copyright/trademark on the phrase "Don't Fear the Reaper". Probably wouldn't have been possible anyway. NASA even uses the term in one of their official documents (search for reaper in it): www.nasa.gov/pdf/601239main_Ikhana-ebook.pdfZilla: Agree - Buck and Eric should be offered cameos in ALL films that use the song DFTR in them.

Titles, to the best of my knowledge, are not copyrightable. Hence many songs/other uses with the same title.

Titles, to the best of my knowledge, are not copyrightable. Hence many songs/other uses with the same title. My statement about you guys getting a copyright was partly in jest because it would have been impossible to do. There are a lot of limits to what you can lay claim to. When I was working we managed to get trademarks on a number of things, and I think some copyrights. And we failed on others. And then I think you had to file in different countries if you wanted protection there. The rules are extremely confusing to say the least. We had attorneys that dealt with stuff like that, and sometimes they hired external attorneys. Even if you did manage to get one, enforcing an infringement would likely cost more than it would be worth. Copyrighting/trademarking titles and lyrics seems to be a common question with confusing answers. Trivia from the links below: "Ziggy Stardust" is a trademark owned by David Bowie. The Red Hot Chili Peppers sued Showtime Networks concerning their song and album title "Californication" www.expertlaw.com/library/intellectual-property-law/copyright-trademark-song-titles-lyrics www.thelaw.com/law/are-song-titles-lyrics-protected-by-copyright-or-trademark-law.317/But you can take great pleasure that if you see somebody using the phrase "Don't Fear the Reaper" they were most likely thinking about YOU/BÖC at the time.
