Secret Treaties has grown in stature, through the years. I personally didn’t see it as groundbreaking or head and shoulders above the first two, but we all have various tastes. As for filler, I don’t see it as plainly on BÖC records (not counting Imaginos, which I never do) as I do other bands. We have seen, though, that there are clear trends among us that rates some songs higher than others. But I’m no authority on studio efforts. I rarely listen to any of them.

Actually, I was being facetious. However, from Transmaniacon MC through Don't Turn Your Back, there is one song I couldn't care less for. Which song? I’ll admit I don’t think filler really entered the picture until Revolution by Night with Eyes on Fire and Let Go.

From Transmaniacon MC through Don't Turn Your Back (i.e., the classic lineup) the only song I skip is "Debbie Denise". After FOUO, the albums are clearly hit or miss compositionally, although they are performed by a great (and my favorite) band. If you take most of RBN and a few tracks off CN you have a great album. If you take most tracks off HF and a few tracks off Curse, you have a great album. That's not to say the other songs aren't worth listening to ("Let Go" being an exception), but I simply don't listen to them. As for "Beat 'Em Up" -- I like the music and vocal melody -- I'm rewriting the lyrics (FS&G) to be more BOC suitable. And, ok, it's a fun thing to do stoned.

I thumbs-up TOG's Feel the Thunder comment. Should be played live.

The only tracks I skip are Eyes on Fire, Make Rock Not War, and Beat ‘Em Up. Let Go and I Just Like to Be Bad are songs I don’t like lyrically but as far as rock songs go musically I enjoy them. Something about Let Go as simple as it is has a very classic feel and I find the chorus progress moon in I Just Like to Be Bad a very unique and interesting one for a rock song. Aside from that, 50 years of music and only three skips is a hell of a track record. I don’t think there’s any other band that has that high a batting average for me. Even my second favorite band Golden Earring has their very first album Just Earrings, N.E.W.S, and Keeper of them Flame, which on those three I skip at least half of each of those albums.

Let’s all be honest here. Let Go and Beat em up are the most cringe worthy songs BOC ever recorded. Make Rock not war as well. But that’s not a bad percentage as stated previously. And , Revolution had its moments. Dragon Lady is a particular fav. Underrated in my opinion.

I happen to love both Let Go and Feel the Thunder. I remember when RBN came out i couldnt wait to buy it. In general I think when your first introduction to new music from your favorite band is very different than discovering it years later. Every band has songs that haven't aged well...agree on the Beat em Up comments.

Beat 'em up & Rock not War - not my favorite tracks either. I wouldn't put them on my nightly playlist. To me, one/both of them has a Judas Priest or some similar band's vibe to it more than a BOC vibe. (Not knocking Priest, I like some of their stuff)
Everything is relative though. I've heard much worse from other bands. I don't think I've ever had an album that didn't have some tracks I wouldn't instantly dump.
Comes down to personal taste - my wife likes mayonnaise on her burgers, I'd throw a mayo burger in the trash even if I was really hungry.

They absolutely have a Judas Prieat vibe. They were written by the same guy who wrote Priest’s Some Heads Are Gonna Roll
