I found a link about the story that he told me about and I kinda just went down the rabbit hole. Rich - one thing I've always wondered about your dad, and I suppose this also applies to the two miscreants responsible for the whole thing - do you know if he's aware of the song...? i.e. has he heard it? If he hasn't, I'd imagine it'd be a bit of a mind blower to learn of it...

If he hasn't, I'd imagine it'd be a bit of a mind blower to learn of it... That’s a good question and one that i wondered as well. When I made the connection between my Dads story and Bucks band, I shared it with both of my siblings (they’re 44 and 36 now). When showing them the band that I was referring to, I played for both of them the Reaper song and they both have the same immediate reaction: “Dad played that song constantly in the car.” I don’t think I’ve ever heard the Last Days of May song played in his car. I really don’t know if he’s aware that song exists.

I've been in the US Army for 21 years (still serving) and at the time, I was a student at the US Army Ranger School. I was having a tough time in the school and really leaned on letters of support from loved ones to help me get through those tough days. Well, one day during the course, I received a story was to remind me that I'm a survivor like him -- at this point, I had barely survived an ambush in Iraq just 5-6 years prior. Now I was going through a difficult challenge and he was basically just motivating me to buckle up and drive on, which I did. I graduated the course and Dad and I never really talked about it while face to face -- the letter left out few details and it was compelling. I got the sense he may have been ashamed by the whole thing.
First of all, thank you for your service! I was an Army wife, 82nd Airborne, 1/17th Cav, Fort Bragg. So, hoorah!
Also, I’m so sorry for your father’s estrangement. If there is anything you can do to facilitate a reconciliation, give it one more try, if you can. (Meaning if it does not jeopardize you in any way.) Life is so short and there will be so many things that you will want to know when your parent’s lives end. By this time, it is too late. Much respect to you, and as Buck said, you are welcome here. If you aren’t already, you will become a quick fan as Buck is a really awesome guy, and this is a pretty awesome group of people here as well. ❤️

The sole survivor of that murder is my father. I’d like to connect with Buck and privately talk to him and share with him the details that my father shared me with about that day. If you've got any details that you can share publicly to add to the following page, please let me know: www.hotrails.co.uk/bociaq/features/ldom.htmReading one of the messages below on this very interesting subject of LDOM, I saw your note about a prior post of your’s so I just now came up to this article you have here. Wow and thank you for posting this! This is worth a couple reads. Also,if an option Ralph, I’d very much like to add it to the archive books I’ve gotten from Bolle that I’m digitizing. Please let me know if that’s an option. Thx. EDIT : I would like to also make note to everyone… I do not repeat what we all post on this forum anywhere. I respect this page and those on it... I would just like to take what you have Ralph on your hot rails page and put in the archives. Nothing more..if not that’s cool too.. thx again
