Buck, is there anything that's keeping the special from having an official release? I know some fans who are non-DirectTV watchers and outside of the US are having a hard time trying to find a way to watch it, especially with the recent takedown on YouTube. Not that I'm accusing every member in BOC of siding with this removal or holding off distribution, but rather, I just simply don't get why there's such an avoidance for the best interests of both the band and their fans.

Well, there is of course a question of rights (whose property it is when it's recorded and broadcasted by a company)... but there is also another problem. Last year's crackdown on BÖC's source of quality live shows is totally incomprehensible. There is no gain in prohibiting fans to share live shows via sites that enforce a certain quality. If a show is going to be officially released, the fans will buy it and thoses sites (dimeadozen or trader's den) delete these shows on the spot if there is an official release. There is no legal offer (as if, ie, all the BÖC shows were recorded on the spot and sold as downloads as some bands do...) and so, there is just no loss of revenue. I really don't understand that. There are not millions of BÖC fans. Those who share live show these days are real fans. It was, imho, a bad decision. But well, not my band, not my source of revenue, just my favourite band.

The Yahoo live from 2014 could be easily released (if there are no rights problem of course), and the complete iHeartradio show too... (and the very very very good House of Blues show from 2000) there is really good material that should be out...
(but I know there are parts of this business that we don't know or understand properly...)

Agree 100%... the clampdown on dimeadozen last year crossed a line, so far as I'm concerned and was a sort of game-changer for me, personally...

Oh, as we are on the "let's write a letter to BÖC's Santa", a new album, an acoustic album and a new Buck Dharma record would be cool.
(I just visualized Steve Schenck with a big beard and a red jumpsuit and I'll wash my eyes asap.)

It's coming, someday, as is the others. Great news - Steve Schenck has just issued a staggered series of release dates for all those live BOC concerts they have in the can:

The more BOC on Bluray or should I say Bluoysterray - the better! I'm just wondering where those Oct 2017 dates in Illinois will be!

This show came out great. Pretty special. It is awesome that this version of BOC is documented so well.
The setlist could be argued based on opinions of course...but I feel like it brilliantly shows off the diversity and musicianship of this great band. Multiple song styles sung by multiple vocalists...killer harmonies..all very well done.
I love that Albert was part of this. Nice bonus. His contribution in the performance was huge I thought. It allowed for a few really great song selections for sure. Vera is incredible and Im still shocked myself how well Debbie Denise comes off live. I enjoyed the hell out of it.
If we get the YahooLive show that would rock too. It was a great show. It documents the more typical show and setlist and live crowd feel we currently enjoy !

in relation with the Chuck thread "Youtube Takedown part 432", if we could have a definition of "someday", it would be great !

in relation with the Chuck thread "Youtube Takedown part 432", if we could have a definition of "someday", it would be great ! Yesterday, I watched the Third Road Trippin' Video, then Astronomy Played. In reality, that satisfied my Buck Fill for the day. I took down anything involving BOC Music this weekend, including items I arguably could appeal with YT. I can't afford to have them suspend my account. After seeing the 7 year old who made $22 Million opening toys on YT, I have to serrrrrriously rethink my YT Direction, lol.

What if holding off these live releases is part of a well thought out post retirement income plan for B & E? I'd hate to mess with that. However, the plan could backfire if the releases were popular enough to cause a surge in demand for more live shows. On tour forever!
