This is an absolutely stupendous cover of "Godzilla." I'm blown away.

Would have liked it had the constant chanting in the background were removed. :/

Would have liked it had the constant chanting in the background were removed. :/ Ah well, for me, that's one of the features that lends an epic grandiosity to this arrangement... there's a LOT going on with this one... I'm a bit biased, I should add - I love Bear McCreary's work anyway, plus I have been known to appreciate the odd BOC tune or two.. or three... so for me, this was a great marriage... This treatment is certainly an opinion divider - a lot of people are saying they would prefer to see the original BOC Zilla used, but I honestly don't think that would fit the vibe of what they're after here - and after all, BOC's Godzilla is what it is and stands on its own two feet in that regard, but I think they've taken the essence of the song, microwaved it a little to soften the edges, and then mixed in one or two newer ingredients and then put it in a new, slightly differently-shaped dish to serve to the public (can you tell I'm in the middle of preparing my dinner?)... Besides, it must be good because Tom says he hates it...

Would have liked it had the constant chanting in the background were removed. :/ The chanting and Japanese drums are a theme throughout the soundtrack. It fits. What I like about the cover is the soundtrack theme elements with essential and faithful elements of BOC's original version intact in the tune. And I like the vocal too.

I like it ! Well done. Love to see this song getting some love.
Two things come to mind...
“He tears the spinning high tension wires down”...in the shower I always sang it “city high tension wires down” but I never get words right. Haha.
Im a bit of a chant fan I guess and this reminded me of a Blue Swede fav of mine....

I do like the drums though.
I guess I'm just in the camp who wished that BOC's Godzilla would have been in there instead, because I feel like this film regardless would still appeal to younger audiences and attract newer fans.

BTW: It's worth checking out Bear McCreary on youtube if you haven't heard anything from him before - here's the one that most people will immediately associate with him - and by the way, this is the UK version, the US one was rather different for some reason, but this one hits the spot:

I like his Godzilla song better. I've listened to his Godzilla about a dozen times and I believe it has legs... It's not Classic Rock, but the new Movie isn't going to have Raymond Burr or a Rubber Suit either :-) (As I type this, "Burnin' For You" was on a Nationwide Radio Show Bump :-)

I think this cover has legs, besides being attached to a major motion picture. Eastmark's comparison to Blue Swede is apt. Yeah, it ain't BOC, but it's still pretty good. The first time I heard Blue Swede's version of "Hooked On A Feeling," when I was a young man, I almost drove off the road.
