I'll be doing the chant - along with an interpretative dance - at my next BÖC gig. :-) Make sure you get someone to film this "interpretative dance"... posterity demands documentation...

PS: Here's Bear's Eastern promise-packed version of Bob Dylan's classic:
Yes, Tom, no need to say it: you think it's crap...

I’m glad it’s in the movie, I’m glad Buck likes it, most of all, I’m glad Buck got paid. I think it will be a good fit, and don’t imagine the original would.

Ha, I still like our version, but it's a little goofy for the mean-ass Godzilla Hollywood has to show. I think Bear McCreary took the song and gave it some gravitas with the taiko chanting and drumming. I'm tickled that the producers went for it, it was Bear's idea to do it. Anyway, it's over 500k streams on youtube in just over a week.

Anyway, it's over 500k streams on youtube in just over a week. I still like BOC's version too, but as you say, it is what it is - it wasn't written to go over a film soundtrack - Bear's put the welder's goggles on and taken a blow-torch to it and re-shaped it a bit to fit the cinematic requirements... that's his thing and he's bloody good at it... I won't tell you how many of the current 542,914 views are mine (I think they only count 1 a day per IP address anyway) but it's a lot... it's like a great wine, it's improving all the time... I'm really starting to look forward to the film now... blimey - I hope the actual film doesn't let down the soundtrack, but I don't get the feeling it will... BTW: I know, back in 1998, the band were pissed off that Roland Emmerich didn't use BOC's original for his version, but I think that experience can now be filed away under "Dodged an Artistic Bullet" when you consider that particular release's quality and reception... #sucked_bigstyle

On the topic of Galactica - man, I loved that show but still have no idea what the frack happened the last season.

On the topic of Galactica - man, I loved that show but still have no idea what the frack happened the last season. Rob It was one of my favourites also, but if I said I was always on top of the plot-lines, I'd be a liar... it got just a bit way too mystical and weird for my tastes in parts, aided and abetted by Bear's Eastern-styled ambient musical meanderings, it has got to be said... I just never got what all that running around the opera house was about, for example, and all that Starbuck's ghostly angel business was a bit head-scratching for me... so much of it went over my head, yet I still enjoyed the drowning experience... I mean, I appreciate Star Trek in all it's incarnations as much as the next person, but Battlestar was always a cut above in my eyes as it had so much going on... on a divergent note, it was weird later seeing Starbuck as Sheriff Longmire's deputy.. I kept expecting to see Cylons marching over the hill...

My son Zeke reports that my two year old Grandson George now prefers Bear's version of Godzilla to mine. He liked the BOC version for months, but now he wants to hear that chanting.

I had a great conversation with Bear McCreary last Friday. He said that when they mixed his version of "Godzilla" they wound up de-emphasising some band elements, presumably to make room for the chanting and the taiko drums. I guess there was more to the rock band tracks than wound up in the movie version. I'm convinced that Bear's personal love of BOC and "Godzilla" is the only reason the song made the movie. The 70's BOC version likely would not have hit the right vibe for the film. Always important to Adapt, Improvise and Overcome!!
