Buck,
I tell this story all the time because it's the coolest but people always want a COA.
You guys were in Charlotte, NC at the PARK CENTER timeframe:1970 something
It was BOC and Foghat. Yeah. You guy's blew Foghat off the stage that night. Bloom drove his chopper on stage. The freakin' greatest show.
We were on front row at that show and you were playing right in front of us. That night we had more than enough Marijuana and was smoking up the stage.
We offered you the joint and you took it and had a few hits off it and handed it back. We couldn't believe you took it and in a way we were smoking a joint with the one and only Buck Dharma.
It don't get any cooler than that. Werther you can validate this happening or not I guess really doesn't matter because I know it happened and screw everyone that don't believe me.
Stoned

The Park Center. I seem to recall playing with Billy Preston once there. I only know of 3 gigs at the Park Center: 09 Sep 1972: supporting The James Gang 28 Jun 1974: headlining over Brownsville Station/Nazareth 05 Jun 1975: supporting Foghat All the other Charlotte gigs that BOC played in that city I know about were at the bigger Charlotte Coliseum, and after 1986, various local clubs... If there was a gig at the Park Center supporting Billy Preston missing from my list, then I've never come across it, unfortunately... Apart from a multi-band lineup Palm Beach festival in 1973, the only other gig with Billy Preston I've ever heard about was this one at Virginia Polytechnic University in Blacksburg VA from 1974: BOC and Billie Preston - You just couldn't get such an interesting juxtaposition of musical genres today - I wonder what each of the two different sections of the audience made of each other...? :-)

He was great!
