Somehow I never really got into them as a band until last year, because terrestrial radio only ever plays Tempted, and I'm not very fond of that song. Fast forward to getting satellite radio and hearing Pulling Mussels (From the Shell), Up The Junction, Black Coffee in Bed, etc. Glenn Tilbrook has a quality to his voice like Buck's I think, too. God, I'd love to see that double bill. I can totally hear Squeeze doing something like Mirrors or BÖC doing Another Nail in My Heart.

Good points, especially the Squeeze/Buck connection. Crowded House is another band that has some stylistic similarities with Buck.

Great band-Tilbrook and Difford formed a very successful writing partnership together very much in the style of Elton John and Bernie Taupin in that one would write the music and one the lyrics not in the same room together

Maybe a podcast I heard ? but at sometime I heard Richie and Danny discussing how they liked the complexity of Squeeze' music....

coming out of the whole British post-punk/new wave movement, The Squeeze were one of the highest examples of classic pop music in the purest sense of the word. their Stateside counterpart being somewhat the Cars, I believe.
brilliant bands, strong songwriting

Was supposed to see them with Hall&Oates this month but you know what happened? Yup. I was supposed to see Judas Priest this fall. I got my refund a week ago. I mean, I know they are worth tens of millions each but they are the exception rather than the rule. Working bands gotta eat. Edit: I don't mean to say they don't have to worry or shouldn't worry, just that Judas Priest or Aerosmith can take the blow better than bands like Squeeze or BOC, who are working touring bands. None of them have pensions and get health insurance through work. That shit can't be cheap when you pay out of pocket.
