www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/frank-zappa-halloween-1981-concerts-box-set-1044227/I've got quite a serious collection of Zappa material in my home office, totalling about 60 albums, most recently The Mothers 1970 which is a collection of outtakes and live performances from the Chunga's Revenge-era Mothers with Flo & Eddie. This one looks to be about You Are What You Is/Them or Us/Drowning Witch era, so it should have Steve Vai. I know Frank can be a bit hard to appreciate for some, to put it mildly, but I've always had a fond fascination with complex music and oddball creators, especially those with very strange senses of humor. Anyway, it's $124.99, so it's a bit much for anybody but the most diehard fans, but I'm totally here for it. I skipped the Halloween 73 release because it was basically the same lineup as the Complete Roxy Performances boxed set and mostly the same set list. This on the other hand doesn't have a lot of overlap. Ive only ever heard one live version of Drowning Witch before from You Can't Do That on Stage Anymore, volume whatever.
