I'd have thought this would have been posted here by now, but never mind - if you haven't heard it yet, check this out: George Geranios has been posting some seriously interesting gems of late... Buck, there's been a glut of live records lately, and that's all well and good, but is there no way you guys can get together and work out some way of actually releasing some of this early original stuff...? This song is quite beautiful and has been running round my head all today - how it didn't make it onto a record is beyond me... and don't forget, these latest uploads are just from a few odds and ends that George had left lying around - he handed over all his main stash ages ago.. hidden amongst that motherlode must be some absolute gold... it makes ZERO sense to sit on this stuff so my unsolicited advice is this: Release the Red Box!! Literally!!

Hot damn I love the sound of this one. Especially the organ.

And I really dig the half-measures and dropped beats going on. Really forces you to pay attention if you're air-drumming along

I’ve listened to this song several times. It got stuck in my head. Great tune.

We don't have any recording of this song. I think George has the orginal tapes. I had no recollection of it, it sounds like a Joe song that I sing, with the others. It was something under consideration for the Mirrors record by all lights. I guess it didn't make the cut. George did a nice job restoring and finishing the recording.
There's not a lot of undiscovered material from the day. We didn't record many songs that we didn't use at the time.

There's not a lot of undiscovered material from the day. We didn't record many songs that we didn't use at the time. I bet there's more than band members think/remember. For example, in the youtube comments, Joe said he has no recollection of this at all, and Albert, who wrote the song, says he didn't think it had ever been recorded... Here's the BOC studio demos George has refurbished so far: We Gotta Get Outta This Place Light Years Showtime (Acoustic) Stone Of Love Late Night Street Fight The Only Thing Who knows how many more gems he has? A few more and there's at least one CD's worth... Plus, that's only thinking about a standard, straightforward sort of release, you know, like here are the "best" versions of each song in question... But take Showtime, for example - apparently that had "different" treatments - the one George uploaded was the "final" one with mandolins etc, but he said he has others... An interesting format to bear in mind is what Rhino Handmade did when they got their hands on the studio tapes of the Stooges Funhouse recording sessions - they released the WHOLE thing on multiple CDs - song tryouts, multiple attempts at the same song, studio banter and discussions etc - Stooges fans loved it and the initial collectors edition run quickly sold out, and they had to re-release more, and there's now a 13 LP vinyl edition coming out... There's definitely a market for this type of approach... I'm not saying George has 13 LPs worth, but he seems to have enough material to make a decent start... anyway, it might be worth finding out what exactly he has in his archive and taking it from there...

Actually, when the red box was recovered by the powers that be, I really thought it was to release it officially. and when I hear arguments like for exemple "some material is not good enough quality wise to release it, trust us", i just can't facepalm enough.

"the red box" is the whole set of rare tapes collected by Bolle through the years. Steve Schenck asked it back a few years ago

I'm actually listening to The Doors' "The Soft Parade" deluxe and it features a loose jam session with Jim Morrison as drunk as a skunk. not exactly my idea of "good enough quality-wise" Just saying

Actually, when the red box was recovered by the powers that be, What's the red box? For many years, if you wanted to hear all the many and various BOC demos and rare live recordings that Bolle had amassed during this time, you had to travel to his LA flat and ask him to play them to you... I never did because I don't live close enough but I'm told Bolle kept all these aural treasures in a red box - I like to think it was hidden under his bed, but that's just my imagination filling in an unasked for locational blank... Anyway, the term "red box" has come to stand for any and all of those forbidden recordings that BOC Inc and management have decided that the fans should not be subjected to... We got to hear a few of them on the remasters, of course, and that was great but we always suspected there was an unseen iceberg below the murky waves... The thing is - we had already come to know the names of many of those demos that were not officially sanctioned but sadly, their reality had always remained withheld from us, like the legend of Tantalus, forever just out of our reach... That is - until GpG started uploading some of them to his channel, and the theoretical started to become the wonderfully actual and we saw how good some of this stuff actually was...

I went to the Museum twice. First time was all about Cultosaurus Erectus and the second time, Tyranny & Mutation... The rest of our time together was all about Neal Schon and The Tubes...
