So, I didn't live in NJ for very long, but long enough to catch the references to Metuchen and Freehold I lived near Freehold (in Red Bank) but I went up to Perth Amboy a lot and on the way there there'd be signs for Metuchen and my wife and I would joke that it sounded like a really awful medical condition. You can't call yourself a New Jersian unless you can pronounce that correctly. Just like you can't be a Delawarean unless you can pronounce Newark, Delaware differently than Newark, New Jersey. Anyway, freaking FUN song! Train True and The Alchemist are my two favorite tunes from this record.

Love the tune.Buck does Neo-Country .When I go to my GF in So Plainfield I take the train to Metuchen. When she's away on an audit(only one this year before Covid hit it's all been from home)I come in to watch the Beagles(sadly she had to put the older one down a month or so ago-I really got close to them last year as Lori was away a lot on 3 week audits) I usually stop at Hailey's Harp and Pub around the corner and have Guinness Chicken and French Onion soup.I love that place.

I'm so sorry about the older Beagle <3 We have four right now. Our elderly Dutch Shepherd is unfortunately showing early signs of diabetes, so we may have a bad decision coming soon. But we adopted her as an elderly girl so we knew the day would come sooner rather than later. Before her we had another elderly Dutch Shepherd (coincidence) who LOVED the snow up in Red Bank in the winter. She'd get snow bliss and just go nuts whenever it started.

Lori's other Beagle(Toby) had to be put down about 6 years ago.He was awesome -he developed diabetes Lori had to give him insulin shots and then he went blind.Lori put pads on all the stairs in her house to make it easier for him to walk(and those damn stairs were too slick anyway) and he lasted very well for a full year.Lori has a chest next to the front of the bed so when he wanted to get up on the bed I would yell Paws Up and he'd put his paws up on the chest and I'd give him a gentle nudge from underneath and he'd get up on the chest and then the bed. Funny that the Beagle she just put down(Streak) was a very needy animal(all her dogs were rescue animals that her daughter got)and since Toby got the Paws up treatment Streak decided he needed it too so if I was around he'd go into Paws Up mode so he could get his free ride to the bed.The Beagles loved the snow.I had a Chinese Pug when my parents were alive. My dad loved that dog.Sadly the day my dad died I also had to put the Pug down.

Can’t wait to hear this tune in full. As a lifelong New Jerseyan, this should be a trip!
And I know Metuchen well; my dentist is there! And the town is about a 10 minute drive from the independent record store I plan on buying the new album at. Actually, the store already has it in stock, and I had planned on getting it today, but commitments got in the way. Dammit!

I predict that a country band will cover this song and have a hit.
