Two strikes in her favor Eighty-eight strikes against
Gotta love The Return of St. Cecilia.
Can't stop singing Box in my Head out loud to the point where my wife is getting annoyed now lol.

Edge of the World for me this morning. And this could go in the "little things" thread, but I love how the delay in the verse has the guitar notes ringing in tuplets, giving it a tiny bit of swing.
The band is so tight on this record. One could say they were in the pocket... eh? Eh? 😄
... I'll just stand over here in the corner.

I've found it damn near impossible to play the album at work and get much done.

I've found it damn near impossible to play the album at work and get much done. It has been a busy week, so I have had it on softly, only stopping when someone with a challenging accent is on the phone. Box keeps floating around in my head, along with Florida Man

Tuplet delays are my favorite. Use 'em all the time. LEFT RIGHT TUPLETS !!! Makes me think of the alternating left to right eighth notes on Black Blade, the tone of which made it sound like a synth.

Today it's Box in my Head and There's a Crime.
The reference to Brandy in Box makes me smile each time.
The nasty CRUNCH of the guitar in There's a Crime is just stuck in my head (possibly in a box in a box in my head).
Man, Jules' drumming is so incredible and I'm glad we've got so many recordings of him with the band now, live and in studio.

That little tiny bass thing that Danny does after the solo in The Alchemist.

.... and yet to me, this is a low point on the record. Oh, what might have been........
One things for sure. This record polarizing!

I'm sure there are reasons for disliking it. To me it felt very like it had a Tyranny & Mutations vibe. It also did a good job of making it feel like Allen's spirit was in on those keys. They used his classic sounds to be sure. I just really loved the riffage on that one, and how Buck and Richie were trading Blackmore-style licks throughout. Plus I like Meltzer's lyrics.
