Everybody is all about the cowbell, but there's a lot of things going on in Reaper I dig, and lately I've been digging the guiro on the 2 during the verses. Today was the first time in a while where I listened to Agents of Fortune JUST to listen to it and not just as music to have on during the day, and I really paid attention to different things that I hadn't appreciated in a while and that was one of them. They used it again in Dr. Music during that breakdown/solo section, too. I just love cool layered stuff like that

BOC was always fans of the guiro and the Vibra-slap, aka the jawbone. Percussion was traditionally something we did on recordings, and not replicated live. We didn't use the cowbell live in Reaper before the SNL skit.

We didn't use the cowbell live in Reaper before the SNL skit. My band's rhythm guitarist Adam used to be a drummer, and he was always adamantly opposed to us ever using hand percussion of any sort for some reason, so one day I went out and bought our lead singer maracas and shaker eggs just to piss him off. I've heard the saying that "nobody likes a smartass" but thusfar it hasn't led me astray

Actually, now I'm curious, which songs use the jawbone?
edit: Never mind, I looked up what it was and I recognize the sound now.
