What are your favorite bands that came from your neck of the woods? I'm from Philly & its suburbs so I can't claim BOC, but I love
The Hooters (got to record demos in their studio while interning there) Robert Hazard Dead Milkmen The Roots Hall & Oates Beru Revue
While not FROM here, Dr. Milo from The Descendants lives in West Chester, PA now, so I'm counting it lol.
And Cinderella... they certainly are a band that comes from here lol

I'm originally from Delaware, here's my list from Delaware and surrounding areas of the bands that got signed to major labels: George Thorogood and the Delaware Destroyers Tom Conwell and the Rumblers (from PA but I remember him from the University of Delaware) The A's (from PA) Johnny's Dance Band (from PA) John Eddie (from south NJ) Jeffrey Gaines (from PA) Live (from PA) Bricklin (from PA) The Sharks (from PA) - they won the MTV Basement Tapes contest one year in the 1980's I've also got some favorites who never got signed to a major label, but in my opinion they were just as good too.

Hah, I knew somebody who went on a few dates with George Thorogood. She said he was shy.

I was gonna say I thought Tommy Conwell was from Philly.
I’m in NJ, so I’ll claim:
Bruuuuce Glen Burtnik The Slaves of New Brunswick Southside Johnny
And for a spell, Monmouth County’s own Buck Dharma...

Nice place, except for the Evil Clown of Middletown... I wonder if that is one of the evil clowns from Nightmare Epiphany.

Most of the Brill Building singers/writers came from my neck of the woods.Carole King/Gerry Goffin lived around the corner from me.As a kid I ate in some of the same restaurants in Brighton Beach and Coney Island as the local groups did.I've had this conversation with folks like Jay Siegel of The Tokens. When I went to Sheepshead Bay High comedienne Elayne Boosler went there as did actress Donna Pescow who was friends with my sister.

Grew up in North Dakota so... Lawrence Welk Peggy Lee Myron Floren Bobby Vee lol...pretty sad, but Jonny Lang came out of Fargo. Bobby Vee was born in Fargo but moved to Minnesota where he was an early hero of Bob Dylans.I met him at an industry party at Mickey Mantles in Manhattan.Interesting quote from Dylan "In his 2004 memoir, "Chronicles, Vol. 1," Dylan wrote of Vee, "I'd always thought of him as a brother." In 2013, a year after Vee was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, Dylan paid tribute to him during a concert at Midway Stadium in St. Paul, where he performed "Suzie Baby" and reconnected with Vee backstage. "I lived here awhile back, and since that time I've played all over the world, with all kinds of people. Everybody from Mick Jagger to Madonna and everybody in between," said Dylan, usually a man of few words in concert. "But the most meaningful person I've ever been on the stage with was a man who's here tonight, who used to sing a song called 'Suzie Baby.' "

I forgot that Bing Crosby was from Spokane, and verified a rumor that I’d heard that George Lynch is also from here.

In the "Non-Favorite Local Bands" category, in my neck of the woods there's a 'band' called Blue Oyster Culture Club that I've always thought should be hit with a cease and desist...and not just because of the name.
