"Underrated" as a Facebook concept is pretty meaningless, in my opinion - who's doing the "underrating" and how is it being measured? Let us see the metrics... I don't know of anybody who "underrates" the DFTR solo, so in my opinion, it should NOT be on this list as it is definitely "rated"... I'd much prefer the guy to say - "here's some of my favourite guitar solos"... Maybe it's considered underrated by him in that it doesn't too the internet lists like it should, or as often as it should? My favorite solo on that album is the later solo on Tenderloin, with the wah and the panning. I dunno, Buck's solos tend to go great with Allen's songs. Tenderloin, Lonely Teardrops, Don't Turn Your Back, etc. DFTR is uniquely modal for classic rock radio, though. Along with the modal solo, there's a few Latin music elements kind of hidden throughout the song from the guiro i mentioned in one of my threads to the clavinet that's doubling the riff (I *THINK* I hear a clavinet anyway).

Don't Turn Your Back is one of my fav solos. And playing on Allen's songs, I played to what I thought Allen was saying. I wish he'd written more.

The Latin thing is right. A couple of years back I was watching a Cuban dance band at a festival & was surprised when they seamlessly segued from a nice bit of rumba into a Latinised version of DFTR it sounded fantastic & the solo was taken by guitar & saxophone. I now notice those sneaky Latino elements every time I listen to DFTR. Like all great songs it's a gift that just keeps giving.

I think I'm speaking for many other fans when I say that I'm greatly missing Allen. Don't Turn Your Back is an amazing deep track indeed, and it hides a jazz-fusion feel in its chord progression. and, yes, both the solo and the vocal delivery are truly great. an excellent closing track to one of your best albums IMHO

Allen's spirit is felt throughout Symbol thanks to Richie and Andy. There is no way to make a song sound BOC better than to have some greet keys synth and organ. He was the Ray Manzarek of the band.

Allen and Albert helped make it better during rehearsal, enough for a co-write credit.

The only other one I can think of off the top of my head is Limo Wreck by Soundgarden.

Same goes for Sinful Love and Spy in the House.
