Regardless of the obvious craziness of 2020...always so much to be thankful for. Most importantly here health, friends, and a great family. Got to love Thanksgiving traditions. Something normal to enjoy for a change.
Turkey brined since yesterday morning when I left for work on our porch. (cold in Maine!) Now rinsed, dried, and seasoned ready on the counter to go in about 9 am to slow cook. Lisa will get up soon and be in cook mode for the side dishes...cooking up a storm which she loves. Moose will be begging right behind her for sure. Got to love the smell of turkey cooking in the house on Thanksgiving. 2 days of leftover Thanksgiving sandwiches ahead. :-) Love them. Favorite family side dish...sweet potato pie thats loaded with butter and topped with brown sugar and pecans.
Hope everyone here has a great day and watch’s about 10 minutes of the Macy’s parade before changing the channel, gets to talk with their families, watch’s some football, eats way too much great food, and then naps on the couch with the dog, before waking up for a piece of pumpkin pie. I know I will. Im pretty predictable. Haha.
Of course also thankful here to the band for ALL the efforts this year that made 2020 bearable for BOC fans. It is really insane what came out this year to keep us smiling. Music is so important especially in crazy times. Thankful Buck that you take the time to participate here with us. You don't have to but still do. It is sure fun for us. Hope your family has a great day Buck.
Quiet one here this year with just Lisa and Moose and I that we are sure grateful for. Enjoy Every Sandwich everybody. It is fun hanging out here with you all.
Hope its a great one ! 2020 is almost over. Have faith.

Well said! Hope you have a great Thanksgiving eastmark! Thanksgiving this year for me isn't that much different this year since it's always been held at home in the last 5 years. No matter what the setting and year however, my family can't fully get together, but now this year, it's just me and my parents and a few food deliveries for some of my relatives who now can't make it. But we're fine with it, because we prefer everyone be safe than sorry. I really look forward to having Thanksgiving turkey again! After my dad retired, he got $500 worth of gourmet meat including a Thanksgiving turkey courtesy of the company he used to work for. 2020 has been crazy, but I'm thankful that I've not only been striving by staying safe, but also still making fun, positive memories. I do not wish to think like a pessimist. While I admit that I've struggled, I was able to keep my head up by working on art projects, planning for next month's HumanLight, take a road trip to UP Michigan in early-October, and throughout November, collaborate with my friend from college/distant cousin for a couple of her projects. Speaking of my cousin, we're now currently developing a fan comic together with her as a co-writer, so that further helps me with staying productive and connected! Even in dark times, there's always something enjoyable to look forward to.
I'm also thankful for getting the newest BOC album. It's tough not being able to see the band this year, but that gives me another thing to be thankful for, which is being able to personally connect regardless from a distance while also getting enjoyment out of The Symbol Remains. Also thankful that I got to help promote the album and the other Frontiers releases and share some documentation since last year through Buck's pages. I know I'm not "officially" part of the BOC team, but I just want to let Buck know that I am still grateful to him for letting me be his social media manager, because I do enjoy doing my part to help out with adapting to modern platforms.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Happy Thanksgiving to all. It's been hard with my parents living in North Carolina, and even though my brother lives near me we haven't spoken in over two years now. But, family is what you make it, I think. This was my seventh Thanksgiving with my wife, and even though we didn't get to spend it with her son like the last six times because of COVID, it nevertheless felt special. I mean, she and I disagree vehemently on whether ham is acceptable on Thanksgiving (ham is PERFECTLY fine on Thanksgiving and I will DIE on this hill), but we make it work.

Zen
It is a family dish on my wifes side. l always thought it was maybe a southern based dish...no marshmallows...not really sure whats in it beyond mashed potatoes, butter, probably more butter, egg , nutmeg and/or cinnamon maybe ?, brown sugar with melted butter and a handful of pecans on top to melt and crunch. It is pretty sweet Id say..almost like a dessert with the meal..and pretty amazing.
Her folks were french Canadians and also made their stuffing with white potatoes and ground meat which blew my mind first time I saw it....Is great but not the bread based stuffing I grew up with. We do the bread based stuffing strictly to go in the beloved leftovers Thanksgiving sandwiches. Those are the basic here...on lightly toast bread...hot turkey with hot gravy, cranberry sauce, bread stuffing, then a whisker more of gravy and a little more turkey on top of the stuffing. A couple shakes of pepper. It is supposed to be a messy 2 handed sandwich....and it is.
Interesting the food traditions of different folks on holidays. All good. Had a really great day. My 10 minutes of watching the parade had the “Temptations” singing and dancing a medley of their tunes. That was very cool. Odd how the band got so young now. ;-) They were fun to watch as always. Watched some football and even a bit of the dog show. Dog lover here.
Ocean....ham is Easter here....beef on Christmas...but there’s no rules ! Do your thing.

Echoing the sentiment, I hope everyone's was great. Being that we had no crowd, Perdue had a turkey tenderloin which was the perfect size, even allowing a small amount of leftovers. I have to agree with Ocean, my son lives to eat ham, which we would have had if he were here. I would opt out of the sweet potato/marshmallow mess, as it is a waste of marshmallows. I also saw the Temptations, and marveled at their youthful appearance after all these years. The dog show was on for a little while, long enough for me to see the Dogo Argentino, and marvel at who came up with that innovative name for it. Football and naps, Friends reruns and more naps. My wife had another setback in her cancer treatment, the wound that was sewn up last Thursday developed a staph infection(just like the original wound after her mastectomy), so it was opened up and she is going for an xray today to be sure her ribs are not involved. Her health is my Christmas List.

Excuse my Canuckistan ignorance, but is sweet potato/marshmallow/pecan casserole a real thing in the US of A? Thanksgiving's traditional green bean casserole is more of a punishment than a side dish. If I want to eat green beans I'll sautee them with garlic and bacon. Green beans were never meant to be baked, and as much as I love onions, they were DEFINITELY not made to be baked with already-overcooked fried onions and doused in cream of mushroom. Is weird as that sweet potato and marshmallow casserole thing sounds, it is a DELIGHT compared to the more traditional green bean casserole.
