Zen It is a family dish on my wifes side. l always thought it was maybe a southern based dish...no marshmallows...not really sure whats in it beyond mashed potatoes, butter, probably more butter, egg , nutmeg and/or cinnamon maybe ?, brown sugar with melted butter and a handful of pecans on top to melt and crunch. It is pretty sweet Id say..almost like a dessert with the meal..and pretty amazing. Her folks were french Canadians and also made their stuffing with white potatoes and ground meat which blew my mind first time I saw it....Is great but not the bread based stuffing I grew up with. We do the bread based stuffing strictly to go in the beloved leftovers Thanksgiving sandwiches. Those are the basic here...on lightly toast bread...hot turkey with hot gravy, cranberry sauce, bread stuffing, then a whisker more of gravy and a little more turkey on top of the stuffing. A couple shakes of pepper. It is supposed to be a messy 2 handed sandwich....and it is. Interesting the food traditions of different folks on holidays. All good. Had a really great day. My 10 minutes of watching the parade had the “Temptations” singing and dancing a medley of their tunes. That was very cool. Odd how the band got so young now. ;-) They were fun to watch as always. Watched some football and even a bit of the dog show. Dog lover here. Ocean....ham is Easter here....beef on Christmas...but there’s no rules ! Do your thing. We had it last night. I thought you were kosher?

Excuse my Canuckistan ignorance, but is sweet potato/marshmallow/pecan casserole a real thing in the US of A? Thanksgiving's traditional green bean casserole is more of a punishment than a side dish. If I want to eat green beans I'll sautee them with garlic and bacon. Green beans were never meant to be baked, and as much as I love onions, they were DEFINITELY not made to be baked with already-overcooked fried onions and doused in cream of mushroom. Is weird as that sweet potato and marshmallow casserole thing sounds, it is a DELIGHT compared to the more traditional green bean casserole. We had that too along with the marshmallow thingy. No ham last night but we've had ham at times.

Whats with all the Green Bean Casserole hate ? Use the french cut style green beans and the half assed can of fried onions on top and eat up !
Dont love it but do like it...and Id miss it if it weren't on the table with the turkey along with a bottle of red wine. Traditions traditions. ;-)

The Dharmas had a nice, quiet Thanksgiving with immediate family. I've been offline for two days and enjoyed the break. I thank you all for your support and company here. It's been a tough year with a few bright spots, and I'm grateful for those and for the overall blessings life has provided me and mine. I wish all of us well and a return to the freedom we enjoyed prior to COVID.

Darn COVID in the movies it always gets settled in 2 and a half hours what a shitstorm dose of reality.Just feel fortunate knock on wood that no one I know has come down with it and the effects on some who survived it can be disastrous(the 60 min special was an eye opener).Hope we all make it to the final mix.

TSR was a bright spot for me, and it came along when I was able to listen and enjoy music again.

It’s been a shit 2020 for myself and family. This Covid 19 has taken two members of my family , my mother in law and an auntie. Just when I thought nothing would get any worse I fell and shattered my patella 5 weeks ago- the pain was terrible and I was rushed into hospital for an operation to fix the knee cap which was a success. I am now 5 weeks into my rehab ,the left leg is still in the full leg brace but I am making good progress now. Will be off work till mid January. Can’t wait till 2021 comes and hoping for better luck next year with a return to live gigs etc. TSR was a highlight for me as it has kept my spirits up. Take care everyone

I hope that '21 will be a good year. I know this song is about 1921, but it seems to fit for 2021.

Sorry to hear that news Tom. Tough road lately for sure. I am an optimist and I agree 21 will improve for some obvious reasons regarding the virus.
Glad the rehab is going well for you at least. Chin up ! Summer of 21 will bring some outdoor live shows at least. :-)

Sorry for your loss Tom, wishing you a quick recovery. Different Thanksgiving here but still managed to get together with friends and family safely. Grateful for a lot of things these days, even among the craziness of 2020.

Echoing the sentiment, I hope everyone's was great. Being that we had no crowd, Perdue had a turkey tenderloin which was the perfect size, even allowing a small amount of leftovers. I have to agree with Ocean, my son lives to eat ham, which we would have had if he were here. I would opt out of the sweet potato/marshmallow mess, as it is a waste of marshmallows. I also saw the Temptations, and marveled at their youthful appearance after all these years. The dog show was on for a little while, long enough for me to see the Dogo Argentino, and marvel at who came up with that innovative name for it. Football and naps, Friends reruns and more naps. My wife had another setback in her cancer treatment, the wound that was sewn up last Thursday developed a staph infection(just like the original wound after her mastectomy), so it was opened up and she is going for an xray today to be sure her ribs are not involved. Her health is my Christmas List. All the original Temps are long gone.Couldn't tell you about the latter versions.I know the group I saw at Jones Beach in the 90's only had guys who joined in he 70's.
