Oh man, I liked Corky. He taught me a cool method of mic'ing a snare drum. Point a mic at the shell of the drum, perpendicular to the shell. Sounds great. Bum he's gone.

Bernard Hill, actor who played the King of Rohan in the Lord of the Rings movies, and the captain of the Titanic. 79. Sad news. BTW, most people in the UK will probably best remember him as Yosser:

I always hoped BOC would oneday work with Albini - not to happen now. His work with Cheap Trick when he re-hashed some of their songs was outstanding imo.

Roger Corman - age 98 American filmmaker Producer and Director of the sci-fi film "X: The Man with the X-ray Eyes" starring Ray Milland. (sound familiar?) If you don't recognize quite a few of these, well you missed out. A lot were low budget, but that was part their charm, especially back in the 60's.

Jack Nicholsen among others got their starts with Corman and not just acting Jack doubled as a story boards guy early on everyone chipped in to keep the budgets low.He had some great low budget sci-fi horror films before he did the Vincent Price Poe classics.Little Shop Of Horrors was a classic with Nicholsen playing a masochist who thrived on dental pain.Mel Welles was a staple and later as WElles once told me he did 22 of the dubbed in voices in the film Barrabas.

John Barbata -age 79
American drummer who played with The Turtles, Jefferson Airplane, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, and Jefferson Starship I assumed Barbara played on the Turtles' records. He had a great groove. "You Know She'd Rather Be With Me" sticks out.
