Hopefully, this bat stays out of Hell: Jim Steinman Acclaimed songwriter and producer Jim Steinman, best known for his work with Meat Loaf, has died at the age of 73. The news was first announced by TMZ, who reported that Steinman died Monday (April 19) in Connecticut, citing a report from the state's medical examiner. The cause of death was not listed. Steinman, who also was a recording artist, enjoyed his biggest successes as a songwriter and producer for others. He first rose to fame working as the composer on Meat Loaf's 1977 album Bat Out of Hell and later returned to reunite with Meat Loaf on the sequel albums Bat Out of Hell II: Back Into Hell and Bat Out of Hell III: The Monster Is Loose. If all he had done was Bat Out of Hell he still would have been legendary. RIP Jim.

If all he had done was Bat Out of Hell he still would have been legendary. RIP Jim. Without shame, I loved all 3 Bat albums. Minus the Celine Dion one on the third (but I get what they were trying to do) Saw meatloaf with BOC here in Ontario. The next night Meat collapsed from heat exhaustion! Anyways, Jim was clearly a great musician.

Stagger Lee is a great song often reinterpreted. I thought it was actually folk song.

famous Italian musician Franco Battiato passed aay today at 76. one of the most influential figures in the history of Italian music, in his 55-year long career he drifted through various genres, from avant-garde and progressive to neo-classical, from sonic pop-rock singer-songwriting to ethno-trance, from electronics to soundtrack score. he was also a writer, painter, and movie director, a follower of various mystic currents, and sported a long-time collaboration with philosopher Manlio Sgalambro. while virtually unknown in the States, he, alongside acheving a huge commercial success in Italy and Spain, gained a reputation among musicans and critics alike throughout Europe.

Lloyd Price, "Mr. Personality," dead at 88. Most famous for "Stagger Lee." The Midnight Special once had The Skyliners back up Price on a few tunes. Was really cool hearing them open with "Johnny Johnny" at the start of his big hit "I'm Gonna Get Married".One of the 50's/60's artists I never got to see live.
