My band's other guitar player used a vintage Moog for several songs, and it finally died to an irreparable degree. It's kind of heartbreaking to see it go. I love classic analog synthesizers. It reminds me when the neck started going on my old Dean. I loved that guitar, but it was defective and it was just easier to buy a new one at that point. I hate saying goodbye to ANY instruments, but especially ones that are either vintage or if not that at least have sentimental value like my Dean did, since it was my first electric.

So what are you gonna do when the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame comes calling for your first guitar?!
My first guitar (1964, soon after seeing the Beatles on Ed Sullivan) was an EKO acoustic, and lord knows I never got skilled enough to determine whether it was defective or not. "Three chords and a cloud of dust."

I guess people have different levels of attachment to instruments. One of the first guitars I owned was an early-80's Gibson SG "Firebrand", which was sort-of their budget model at the time at about $400. I played it for years in different bands until I decided that I just wanted to try some other guitars. It was kind-of finicky as far as it's setup. The neck would need to be adjusted a couple times a year when the seasons changed. Also, I tried all kids of mods with it from having a middle single-coil pickup routed on it, to installing active pickups. I would love to know what happened to it in the years after I sold it. I guess I should maybe do a saved search on ebay or Reverb to see if it ever shows up.
