I always looked at in the greater context of Secret Treaties and that it referred to the Bürgerbräukeller.

I've always imagined it as a flimsy seasonal beach bar on the Long Island Atlantic coast, essentially boarded up for the off-season. The windows are shuttered to shelter the interior from the winter weather, as well as the doors. The inside retains faint ghosts of beer, spirits and tobacco, despite months of disuse. Any time after September it would be closed to normal traffic, and not be reopened until the following June. I thought that because the fictional Susie was a real person, and the interaction in my mind probably took place in a summer recreational setting. I thought it shoulda been named The Break Wind Bar cuz I heard they served the best baked beans. They took a walk on the beach to get away from the stink.

Since English is not my first language I maybe imagine things a little bit different. I always imagined 4 Winds Bar as a bar in some slums of H.P. Lovecraft's imagination.

Though I was of course familiar with both the Four Winds and Conry's well prior to reading Stephen King's (and Peter Straub's) "The Talisman," on subsequent listenings I have often mused about the former being a Territories 'Twinner' version of the latter.
Man, this stuff is really, really good.
