I've recently been nosing through back issues of Billboard for BOC studio dates - as one does - during the course of which I came across a couple of Buck-related references that I found "flat out" amusing. 4 July 1981: Maybe the type-setter was a Booker T fan...? That said, there is an argument to be made that, sometimes, least said, soonest mended - if you make a mistake, don't subsequently draw attention to it - then maybe you'll get away with the slip... oops - too late: 25 July 1981: BTW: Interesting to see how early Buck started work on "Flat Out"...

OK, well now that we knew that Buck was working on a solo LP, everyone was wondering: who would he get to produce the record? Fortunately, Billboard (1 May 1982), clearly with its finger on the pulse and an ear to the ground, had the answer: Blimey! What a coup in getting Donald Roeser of BOC to produce your record - "Buck Darma" must have been overjoyed... :-)

However, when Billboard finally got around to reviewing the finished record some five months later, they didn't seem very impressed that Buck was clearly very reliant on songs written by that same producer: Hmm... but remember that admonition I previously mentioned regarding the concept of least said, soonest mended...? Buck: "I'm not a rock'n'roll raver..."

I knew Billboard had been confused, but didn’t know they ever had corrected it. Still funny.
