What exactly is the relationship with Run To You and BOC? I have heard multiple stories, the Bryan wrote it for BOC? It could easily be a BOC tune without a doubt, and the intro sounds similar to DFTR. I would love to get this cleared up, and I apologize if it's already been discussed here. I've always loved that song, my band used to play it, it was a highlight of our set. Thanks

Given the time frame and since it was related to Fairbairn, they must have went with “Eyes On Fire” instead, although the guitar break coincidentally sounds a little like Dancin’ In The Ruins.

I never thought of that but yeah those two breaks are similar, very 80's ish. It's funny with Run To You, someone in my band wanted to play it, I remember wanting to axe it, then it became a fav in our setlist. The same thing happened with Boys of Summer, only it was my idea and the others in the band didn't want to play it, but that changed after the first night we performed it. I am from an area north of Seattle where all the cover bands play blues, country, and typical classic rock, Seger, CCR, Sweet Home Alabama.....all the bands play the same songs. We would come out playing The Zombies, Toto, Santana, Don Henley, Steely Dan, it was easy to get gigs, we could have worked seven nights a week doing the casino circuit. The 80's tunes like Run To You were always the favs because no one else in my area plays them.

What exactly is the relationship with Run To You and BOC? They're both played on a guitar and start in an Am position. That's it. So does House of the Rising Sun for that matter and Supersonic by Oasis (at least the version I play).

I don't believe I ever heard Brian's "Run To You" demo at the time. It didn't get past Pearlman/Krugman, who perhaps correctly thought it just wasn't suiting the BOC image, even after "Reaper" had been a hit. I might have done it and put it on "Flat Out," for sure, but the timing was not aligned. I think this was years before we ever worked with Bruce Fairbairn.

Run To You would have fit nicely on Flat Out for sure, and even on Revolution or Ninja. I'm not sure who Bryan had on lead guitar during the peak of his career, he sure got some nice single coil Strat tones and played some tasty riffs. Thanks for clearing that up.
