When I was like 8 years old I had a box record player with one speaker in the front. I had a 45 of Hey Jude I would listen to over and over. I put a empty milk chocolate mix box over the speaker and would put my ear over that so I could hear it better. A far cry from my Sansui/Marantz set up I have had for 40 years now. I have had many different components and set ups over the years but always come back to this older stuff. I have tons of cd's and hundreds of albums.. Cd's for ease Albums for quality.(used to be for rolling) What about you!. And Buck.. what's cranking at your house?

The only components I have left from my old stereo system are my Sony bookshelf speakers and my Technics turntable. I connect my bookshelf speakers to my Fire tablet and listen to my playlists of mp3's. The turntable I only use to make mp3' s of my vinyl. I know there is some difference in sound between analog and digital music, but digital allows me to keep less stuff around (components, physical media, etc.) and also allows me to take my music with me when I take my walks around the neighborhood.

Amazing how sound system equipment seems to grow in my house. I still have my original vinyl/analog stuff from 1979 but the speakers are shot. So my music equipment is now integrated into my 5.1 home theater setup. The old Pioneer analog amp now just drives the sub-woofer. The turntable worked the last time I used it, about 3 years ago, but I need to reprogram my A/V receiver to use it instead of something else - wife wants to play some of her old vinyl. So I'm mostly digital now. When I said stuff grows here's a snap of the back of ONE of my cabinets with the back off. Looks like a rats nest, but things are tied down better than it looks. There is another one next to it, but less stuff in it. I think a few things have been added since this old pic was taken.

At work I use a mismatched computer speaker set up. The woofer is a Creative SoundWorks from the year one, and I use a pair of Logitech speakers from their famed 5.1 THX setup to complete the sound. The Creative speakers that came with the woofer could not compare.
