Im going to get a subscription to either Pandora or Spotify. Never used Spotify. Happy with Pandora but not the ads hence the desire of a subscription.
Trying to pick one. Hate any ads. Love deep tracks and hearing music I dont know…with either new similar style non commercial type bands…or deeper track songs by known bands.
Whats do you guys think of either service ? Pros and cons ?
Thanks in advance for any feedback.

I like Spotify's interface the best of any of the streaming services. I actually subscribe to all of them. Pandora used to be like a radio station, has it changed? I don't know. Spotify has a "radio" capability where it'll choose tunes based on what you've already played. Personally, hearing something like what I've just played is not a feature to my ear.

I have both of them, and like them for different reasons. Pandora is no good if I want a specific song or album. Last year I did a deep dive into BOC, and Spotify had almost every album. I was able to listen to the whole catalog, and make playlists of favorites. My Pandora BOC station essentially gave me a standard classic rock station. I considered this a failure.
Pandora is a better "radio station" app. I play that all day at home, and its much better than Spotify's radio feature. It does a great job of playing similar but different music to my seed. It often turns up gems that I then use as a new seed, which turns up other gems. I call this the Random Walk to Awesome. This is how I found my current favorite band, Earthless

This is how I found my current favorite band, Earthless Ive learned some new “similar but deep track” type unknown bands and songs from Pandora. There is some common hit type stuff at times but with some gems mixed in. Love the Sound of Spotify allowing album play. Thats a huge benefit IMO. I didnt realize they were both so different.

I subscribed to Spot a few months ago and I REALLY like it. It's got a deep dive. I'd say give it a try, you can stop the premium service at any time if you find you don't like it.

My goal is to improve, expand, and reorganize my digital music. I bought a JBL Extreme 2 recently that makes me happy so I want access to my CD’s and my existing digital stuff mobile…and take advantage of the technology improvements.
Should say I am going to subscribe to Apple Match… as well as either Spotify or Pandora. Match lets you upload your own digital stuff as well as take all my existing CD’s etc including my existing iTunes music….and upscales it to higher quality…for anything in the Apple database. For those who love bootlegs etc you can upload it there but obviously no higher quality mix is available.
Big deal…. If you leave….it all can be copied and moved in the higher quality files. You can listen from the cloud or download it both.
That may have me lean toward Pandora for its customizable radio station feature. Handy for hands off hanging out. Make a few more personal stations and thumbs up/down to improve it.
Then If I want to hand pick the music Id have Match to go to. Might have to youtube some comparisons for the current differences. Seems pretty straight forward though although they all are evolving fast.

I’ve got Apple Music. They have pretty much all the BOC studio albums except Curse of …. and Heaven Forbid. I find that really frustrating because I really like those 2 albums. Does anyone know why certain albums are left off of an artist’s work? Does it have something to do with getting the rights or is it someone’s decision to leave things off whether it has anything to do with rights or not?

In the case of the CMC records, "Curse" and "Heaven Forbid," they are out of print in the United States. Our deal with Frontiers gives them the right distribute them in the rest of the world since we own those rights, and they are available there and streaming. If you use a VPN, you could stream them from a foreign country's IP address. I think there's some murky plan for getting them out in the US but not today. You could buy an import if you want the disks. I like those records, actually.

I like those records, actually. Well, it'd be weird if you didn't... (I wonder which one(s) you don't like, if any...?) Flipping that thought the other way: which BOC LP would you say best represented the unique qualities that Blue Oyster Cult has had to offer throughout its long and storied career - let's say Carl Sagan had sent a letter to BOC (like he once did with Chuck Berry) saying he wanted to include a BOC record - in this case, an LP) on the Voyager spacecraft to travel the universe for all eternity, which LP would you choose to represent the band...?

I like those records, actually. I remember buying Curse right before I went on summer vacation with my family, and I listened to it repeatedly that week. I was definitely in the Pocket of the moment that Summer.

I have a subscription with Spotify, but I use YouTube, a lot, given my enjoyment of video, live bootlegs, and stuff not on Spotify. Already cut the cable and use youtubeTV. No more landline phone, either.

Although it's somewhat painful to give YouTube/Google money, I subscribe to YouTube premium to get rid of ads. Youtube is better than watching TV for informative and entertaining content.
