When me and my parents arrived at the arena and walked over to the box office where we were supposed to wait, Queensryche's VIP Coordinator/Merch Manager, Shawn, came at 5 PM to check if everybody came (which wasn't very many people, which was actually nice.) However, we did have to wait a little over half an hour, because their drummer, Scott, was running late. XD After some waiting though, we got to go inside the Allstate Arena and meet the band in a hallway. Everybody in Queensryche was so casual and friendly, they let us take multiple pictures, sign stuff fans brought in (my dad encouraged me to bring an Empire boxset), and chat with them for quite a while. After meeting the band, we also got early access to merchandise, where I bought a Queensryche necklace. What was nice too about the experience was not only was everybody nice, but there was still plenty of time to grab dinner too before the show! Me and my parents walked over to Steak 'n' Shake, and I loved the food. After we ate, we headed back to the Allstate Arena to see Queensryche and the Scorpions perform! ^_^ Gotta say, though. It's really interesting to see Queensryche play from small festivals like McHenry days to venues that hold 18,000-20,000 seats. Nice to see the band rising back up like they deserve.

Looks like you had a great time. That's the main thing. Hopefully they didn't overcharge for the M & G. Some can get overinflated but it really comes down to how much it means to you to meet an individual or band.

Luckily, the meet and greet packages weren't overpriced. It's crazy that bands like Black Sabbath are charging over $1500 for meet and greets per individual. Queensryche charges $150 per person.

Original QR cannot be touched. I just happened to hear Eyes of a Stranger just now. Church! I remember hearing about the split for the first time in 2012 when I wasn't really into Queensryche yet while listening to Silent Lucidity in the car. I was thinking to myself, "Wow, that lead singer's voice is one of a kind, and the band's sound is great! Too bad his shitty behavior got him fired from the band though. " I remember I started getting into the band after my dad convinced me into seeing the Geoff Tate lineup at the Arcada Theater in 2013. While I was there, (and it wouldn't surprise me if anybody already knew this) he took somebody's smartphone and threw it to the audience, but I didn't even notice that until I watched the video, and then of course, he got a lot of media hate from it. The show sounded okay. Then I saw the Todd La Torre lineup at McHenry days in July later on that year. 2013 sure was an interesting year for Queensryche though. XD We've got a smartphone being chucked into the audience, battle of the bands court-style, Frequency Unknown (don't forget the How Much You Hate F.U. Video Contest! ) and the self-titled album released, and the court case being extended to 2014. I would have gone to his last show under the Queensryche name last year in Bolingbrook with my dad and uncle out of curiousity to see what would happen, but damn those 21+ venues! DX My dad told me though that the conditions at the bar were pretty bad, as it was blazing hot inside from being so small and crowded with low ceilings. (which is why Kelly Gray kept hitting his head against it) The guys also saw Geoff take off the Tri-Ryche logo from his belt. Geoff released The Key recently with Operation: Mindcrime as part of a trilogy, and I've heard it's surprisingly good. I'll have to give it a listen, though I wonder if any Queensryche fans on the forums have already?

Haven't heard it. Love Empire and parts of Mindcrime. Not much else.
Have read the new Qryche CD is awesome. Former BOC bassist Rudy Sarzo had been part of Tate's new band, but I know he's not with them any longer. Not sure if he played on the new record though.

I think Silent Lucidity is when hardcore fans kinda felt like the not-so-serious fans flooded the shows. They deserve their success, but every album after Empire kinda loses it. That's not to include I AM I, on the Last Action Hero soundtrack.

I love Geoff Tate's aponymous solo record. Saw him solo in a small bar in Houston and it was awesome. As I've posted before, his band was so geeky that I think I saw his Bass Player check his email in between songs. I haven't seen any of the split versions of Queensryche, but was lucky to see them about 5 times.

Love your grandson picture, Chuck! My granddaughter (who's about the same age as your little guy) has been trying to say "Grandpa" and it comes out sounding like "Buck Dharma." Obviously a gifted child.
