Here in Oklahoma the state legislated legalization of "medical" Marijuana. That was approximately 2 years ago. Since that time growing operations have sprung up everywhere especially in northeastern counties. Unlike the idea of happy hippies being good neighbors the reality is that the state has been overrun by foreign owned operations that have no regard for property lines or the devastation to the ecosystem they are causing by tree cutting, stream and runoff diversions and litter has gotten out of control. Lastly the illegal sales of weed are lining the pockets of shady operators with no care or responsibility to quality to who the product is sold. Now in almost every town here the number of "Medical Dispensery" stores have blown up. They outnumber liquor stores,, grocery stores and most every other legitimate business.. With extremely low licensing fees for shops and growing operations and no control over who can operate them the proliferation is overwhelming. The problems have gotten so bad that the govenor has been forced to make executive actions to address the worst of the problems. I am not an opponent of the legalization of Marijuana. In fact I believe it should be legal. People should have the right to grow, smoke and use the stuff. Further there is no doubt it has a worthy commercial use as well. But the wild west environment on which this is operating is detrimental to society and there must be an accounting for those involved.

My wife received permission to get a card while she was undergoing breast cancer treatment, but Covid19 had shut down the Agency responsible for issuing the cards. We have legalization, but you have to travel elsewhere(NY or MA) to buy the product. The incredible waste of 85 years with no medical experiments due to racist laws that outlawed research affects many with constant pain. The dispensaries are worse than the dealers, IMHO.
