-- Yes, I intentionally omitted the song title in the Subject line --
What you think is the best may be totally different than what I think. Anyway, this one is my personal favorite "most powerful use". As I watched it the first time it aired I thought: WOW, what timing, what context, and what song! Caught me by surprise.
With what's going on in the world, this may be the most inappropriate time to recommend this, or maybe the most appropriate - your decision.
I'm sure a lot of you have already seen this. It has been discussed some in this forum, so this will be old hat to you. But for the rest of you that have NOT seen it, give it a view.
The movie was actually a 1994 mini-series that aired on national (US) TV over several nights. For the maximum impact you MUST watch it from the beginning until the song cuts off, not just fast forward to the song. Adds only an extra 4 minutes and sets the stage. The rest of the movie is up to you.
Anyway, here it is. And yes, BÖC gets proper credit at the end.

Cool! Hadn't seen that one or don't remember it. I KNEW there had to be more examples floating around there.

Joe! - Thanks for sharing! Been a uuuge Stephen King fan since I was a little kid.
King is known for being a rock/hard-rock fan.

Found an article titled "The Stand 2020's Use Of "Don't Fear The Reaper" Fails The '94 Miniseries"opening line: "The Stand's 1994 miniseries is closely associated with Blue Oyster Cult's "Don't Fear the Reaper," but the 2020 show's use of the song was a letdown."
The article can be found at: screenrant.com/stand-2020-dont-fear-reaper-song-fail-bad-1994-callback/I haven't seen the 2020 version, so I can't comment on the article.

Thanks for letting us know know the entire 6 hours of the THE STAND is on YouTube, Joe. I probably wouldn't be 3 hours into it now had you not linked it here.
Happy Easter everyone! Gonna be another 3 hours of THE STAND for me 😀

Gonna be another 3 hours of THE STAND for me 😀 Glad you stumbled onto this then! Being new here I TRY to post some things that people may have missed or may have at least some interest in. Sometimes I succeed, sometimes I fail. The wife found either either the link I posted or another copy of it out there today. Our streaming box doesn't show the link. I knew she found it when I heard the opening scene faintly this afternoon, then heard the DFTR part cranked up. Three guesses what she's scheduled for us to watch this week. Probably over three nights. I wonder if anybody has a complete list of what movies all or part of DFTR has been used in? Or other BOC songs? I already knew of The Stand, Halloween (John Carpenter's original masterpiece version), one episode of The Walking Dead, and The Stoned Age. Stoned Age is a different animal altogether..... I stumbled on some references today of about three other shows/movies. Need to find it again.

There used to be a fairly long list of overall BOC references or mentions on the BOC website, but not sure if it is there any longer.

Great use of Reaper in Halloween, of course.
Can’t forget The Stoned Age either.

Great use of Reaper in Halloween, of course. Can’t forget The Stoned Age either. John Carpenter gave BOC a really prominent credit in the trailer. It was the ONLY song credited. I think John wrote most, if not all, the rest of the music. The Stoned Age, well, you've just got to go with it! I like the T-shirt sales near the end. And of course the argument in the car about DFTR.

Well might as well get it over with and point people to parts of The Stoned Age.
1) DFTR Debate: STRONG LANGUAGE WARNING - Go to YouTube and search for "The Stoned Age-Don't Fear the Reaper Debate" if language doesn't offend you.
2) Here's the T-Shirt part. Much funnier when it just pops up while watching the movie.
