Back in about 2016 asking Bolle about these Lyric Books, and how maybe some of us less fortunate that did not get the original run could maybe get one. He then gave me his approval, permission and sent me his original pdf files to make some copies and then helping me to make them exact to the original specs including the black and red front and back covers.( not hardback). I still have a few copies. Are any of those few copies you still have for sale? I'd definitely be interested. Yes Zach, I have some copies left in my box of BÖC archives in storage that I’ll share.. I’m happy to be able to help whoever interested. Bolle would be happy to know people are still out there looking for them .. You can message me here if you like. Thanks for asking

Since this thread waded (yes, pun intended) into Perfect Water territory, if you're kind of new like me to all the BÖC historical things, you might enjoy this version of PW. My wife found it yesterday. I'll let you look up the history of the band... To really enjoy it you need to listen on a decent sound system, something that has really good bass response, clear crisp treble, and some decent dynamic range. Sounded great on my several hundred watt 5.1 system - no so much on my little built in computer speakers. And yes, the lyrics are the same and you will probably recognize the singer

Just wanted people listening on laptops, cell phones, etc. not to expect too much. Which they probably already knew since this is a music related forum..... I finally found the old separate speakers+subwoofer that belonged to my previous computer. Tiny speakers, but with the woofer sounds decent enough just listening while I'm surfing. Can't stand the build in's anymore.

One of the hardest things about making a record is getting it to sound good on crappy playback systems. Compromises are made to do that.

Once when I was hanging around in the background at a recording session in a local studio one day when a band was recording a particular track, the engineer was asked why the playback setup in the booth (for people to listen back to) was so crappy - he just said, if what we've come up with sounds good on that p.o.s, then I KNOW we're in business...

One of the hardest things about making a record is getting it to sound good on crappy playback systems. Compromises are made to do that. I've noticed as much on early VanHalen recordings. It's as if the rhythm section was tuned out/down to allow all the people with 6x9's in the rear decks of their cars to have less distortion at louder volumes.

One of the hardest things about making a record is getting it to sound good on crappy playback systems. Compromises are made to do that. Today's wide selection of personal/home audio equipment offers such a huge range in all aspects of playback quality, especially compared to say 20-30 years ago. So I imagine it is really difficult to decide on what compromises to make to keep the most people in the target audience happy.

All four of you above, I wouldn't be surprised if you all aren't right. Since I started this lyrics mess, here are my takeaways from my original question:1.) The lyrics are indeed "... we can build a maze of tenderness." No lasers involved. (Buck, thanks for the final clarification. The goof around was fun actually. Keeps us on our toes!) 2.) If anybody still has a doubt, I think the following live performance makes it pretty clear: I think this is actually one of the best live performance videos I've found of Dancin'. I was at that show.. Thought it was about that year asi recognized that shirt Buck has on .. I remember it from the Calif. shows(The Canyon, The Rose and Downey.. !! . I’m going to see what I have for’ Dancin’ in the Ruins’ . That one of my favorites too.

I read an article some years ago (Mojo mag?) that that's exactly how they engineered it. 70's VH was engineered for car stereos. That was their target audience. Brilliant.

Those lyric sites are not authoritative. It's "tenderness." A laser of tenderness. : ) Well I guess my ears aren't that shot after all - I got it half right at least, although I never came up with laser and tenderness together. Thanks for the definitive answer! I think you're right about the lyrics databases - they probably just copy each other. It's interesting we (at least me) can hear whatever we either want to hear or expect to hear in a song verse. Sometimes that can be advantageous I guess. I played that section of Dancin' about 10 times last night, each time thinking to myself ahead of time one of the, now both wrong, combination of words. Each and every time I swear I heard you sing exactly the words I had just thought about. I know this was a trivial detail that I brought up, but unfortunately sometimes I'm like a dog with a bone and can't let it go. Joe, Get me your full name and address via private message on this site and I’ll ship you a copy of the lyrics book for you . I’ll then send over the tracking number for you to track. . Shipping a couple copies out in the next day or two before I fly out for the Saturday (28th) BÖC show in Idaho… Hope you enjoy the ‘laser of tenderness’ lyrics😂🎸 book. Take care Cheryl
