Yea great memories of those Toad's Place shows. The thing I remember about this show is that I had not seen the band since Joe had left. This was my first time seeing the band with this lineup. Those club era shows just put a big smile on my face, fun times...

Stones played at Toads, that Summer, as well.

Great show and really shows what Allen brought to the band. I never liked the Imaginos version of Astronomy.

Well, Astronomy was played that night, and as BOC were still playing "I am the one" at that point, the chances are pretty good that it was the Imaginos version you heard... but the trouble is, I can't label it as such unless I'm told definitely that it was that version - otherwise, it's just an assumption... if you're saying you deffo remember it being sung by Buck, I'll change the listing to reflect that... What listing you speak of? Setlist archive? Thanks. well, if you speak about setlist.fm, almost every setlist there was lifted from Ralph's Hot Rails.

Eric sent me a link to this video on YouTube, it sounds and looks really good. I don't know who did it. It's BOC at the New Haven CT club "Toad's Place." Maybe you hardcore folk know about this, but I hadn't been hip to it. I've linked here what I've never seen before, a faithful performance by Eric, Allen, me and Ron Riddle and Jon Rogers, of the Imaginos version of "Astronomy." Other than my vocal performance, none of us played on that recording. Even I'm playing parts recorded by others. Yet we're playing our hearts out trying to put across the Imaginos version. "Yeah, a lot of that is Buck on 'Astronomy' II. That's all Buck; it's actually all Buck and Joe Satriani. I guess it's not much Joe Satriani, but it's probably the only time they'll ever play together, so I thought I'd mention it." - Sandy Pearlman I guess we'll really never know who played anything on Imaginos lol Anyways, a great show. I've listened to the audio recording a ton, it's the only high quality bootleg from that period I'm aware of, but never seen the video until it was uploaded on the channel. I love that the official BÖC channel uploads so many great gig videos and I appreciate every one of them.

Here's another of my favorites from the BÖC channel, some real gems in this one. This is particularly cool for me as I had just seen the band tour across TX for 5 shows right after I got back from the Gulf in late April. First time meeting BD & EB & crew.

On the topic of Imaginos tunes being played. My parents and brother were living in Augusta GA summer of '88, I was at Penn State taking a class (Electro Magnetic Wave Field Theory, if I remember correctly) and working. Got the call that the band was playing a small club in Augusta called the Post Office. Remember those days when it was hard to find out where they might be playing? My then-girlfriend-now-wife Karen and I drove down to Augusta and went to the show - only my third! - with my brother and a good friend of ours, plus my Mom. She came as the two guys were under 21 just in case that was an issue.
This was the week before Imaginos came out, so we knew a new record was on the way but knew nothing about it. You can imagine my surprise, as we stood right in front of Buck, when they started a song I didn't know and he sang "The clock strikes twelve..." Very cool. I loved I Am the One at first hearing as well. Great show.
Karen and I had fun a week later when the rock station in State College had a feature on Imaginos on release day, playing several tracks that night. We took turns calling in and got them to play our four favorites off of the record.

"Remember those days when it was hard to find out where they might be playing?"
Those days extended to the mid-2000's when Melne put the wrong venue up for BOC's Munich show.... I found the proper venue after going back to my hotel and typing O with an umlaut (being a German keyboard....) It turned out ok, though, after chatting with Buck while he was staring at the pylon that was shoved up the tour bus's engine after I came upon the right venue moments after they finished.

Interestingly enough, I could tell that it was Ron Riddle on drums without seeing who was playing.. probably one of his last shows mid-'91

Most of the info came from radio announcements as I remember. And, that was only regional shows!

We had a local hip weekly rag called The Newpaper later bought and changed to the Phoenix. All the local and national band shows came up there. This was back when even many local clubs had live music 4-5 nites a week...and of course back then I could stay awake late enough to attend....ha. Also the local radio stations would also have live music recordings that you could call and get an answering machine that listed all the local and national acts playing that week.Im old.
