Buck and I are big fans of the original Mighty Joe Young from '49.Still one of my favorite films I got to meet the still lovely Terry Moore(Howard Hughes GF back in the day) at a Chiller Convention. And she sat next to Joe Turkel an actor I've always liked from his days as a young hood in early 50's films to acting in Kubricks Paths Of Glory to being best known as the bartender in the Shining.Turkel was a really nice guy I must say(haha-very decent guy says Ed Grimley) and originally from Brooklyn. I've maintained that "Mighty Joe Young" was a better movie than "King Kong." (Both of them.) Better FX too. And Terry Moore ignited a realization in a youthful Donny that he found women attractive. Her and Mary Heartline, from Claude Kirshner's "Terrytune Circus" on NYC television. Cameras at SONY Hall, you say? Hee hee hee. Flash photography at an event is useless and a distraction. And just about extinct, except for the odd cell phone. Concert prohibitions on photography are historically about rights protection and artist approval of content, but that cat left the barn a long time ago. Sandy saw Steely Dan in St. Petersburg FL last weekend and the Mahaffey Theater staff were up in anyone's face taking cell pictures or video. Geezus. That could be a Dan thing, then. I got busted back in like 2003 at the former Garden State Arts Center (now PNC Bank Arts Center) in NJ, taking a few shots with my snazzy 1.3 megapixel (LOL) digital camera of SD from the 8th row, with my father in law next to me. Instead of handing over my camera (which still had Hawaiian honeymoon pictures on it), I erased whatever shots I took of Donald and Walter that evening in front of the security guard. SMH.

May have been a theater/Dan combo mandate. From the Mahaffey general information page: " CAMERAS & RECORDING DEVICES - The use of cameras or recording devices of any kind is strictly prohibited inside the Theater." There are a couple of very short clips on YT and it looks like people were "sneaking" snapshots. I mean sneaking fast. Not familiar with the place, but it had a "formal" look to it. I also found some YT video of another Dan concert where the poster commented about no cameras/videos, but he managed it anyway.

I just booked 4 nights at ROW NYC HOTEL. Just a credit card, no payment... ROW NYC HotelI read somewhere today that on it's website ROW is currently offering "discounts" and possibly other reduced room rates. The only thing I noticed at first glance was www.rownyc.com/times-square-hotel-deals/ "For a limited time extend your stay and save even more!
Package Details Receive 30% off when you stay 3 nights or more!"You may have already received the discount but I thought I would mention it anyway.

Those "reduced" rates are a myth....a quick check into the dates for the shows are still more expensive than when I originally booked. Not sure why the hotels are so expensive that week...I'm going back to NYC a few weeks afterwards, and rates across the city are considerably less across the board.

"Great Deals" usually have a bunch of caveats or catches so not surprised. Oh well, never hurts to ask. I HAVE been able to get some really great rates off and on over the years in various places. Could be any number of things going on in NYC the week of the concert - it's a big place. I booked a hotel about a year ago (not in NYC) and the online price changed every few hours on one day. Crazy. I wonder how many of these rates are blindly computed using some garbage in->garbage out algorithm?

So I've finally got a 3-day-VIP-ticket for a reasonable price and I'm super excited! And because I really can't afford a regular hotel for 300 or something bucks a night I've chosen the Chelsea Hostel, 30min walking away from the Sony Hall. Was also at a reasonable price compared to other ones. But atm they don't have any beds more for the first night.

Sorry for the double-post but I can't sell my two previously bought regular tickets for the first and sceond show with my german Mastercard via Ticketmaster but I guess a transfer to another person would be possible. So if anyone is interested in one of those two, hit me up!
€dit: Ticket for the 21st is sold, does anyone need one for the Tyranny and Mutation show?

I'll be arriving on Tuesday next week, one day before the first show in NYC. Is anyone interested in visiting the grave of Sandy Pearlman and/or the Stony Brook University during the days of the concerts together?

Is anyone interested in visiting the grave of Sandy Pearlman and/or the Stony Brook University during the days of the concerts together? There are one or two other L.I. locations you could add to a potential Stony Brook Pilgrimage tour: The 4 main band houses: Bennetts Road (next to SBU), St James, Great Neck and Dix Hills Sam Ash, Hempstead The 2 main Conry's Bar locations (Bethpage and Babylon)

I remember reading some articles about the earlier gigs of SWU/SFG/BÖC and listening to the bootlegs where a bar (on a lake?) was mentioned but couldn't find an exact location of Conry's online. :s Guess I will have some loooong walks on the island, haha.

As far as I can see on Hotrails the houses are probably all gone nowadays? a lake?) was mentioned but couldn't find an Well, yes, the actual - original - properties seem to be gone (with at least two of them have new buildings there now) but the spaces where they once stood remain, where you could stand and commune, and soak up the vibes... :-) > but couldn't find an exact location of Conry's online.
The locations are listed on this page: www.hotrails.co.uk/bociaq/boc_myths/conrys.htm It's not a page that's linked to the rest of the site as I haven't got round to finishing it off and smoothing out the rough edges yet, but the basic info - such as it is currently known - is on there... BTW: it's in the "myths" section because I was trying to explore the reality of the idea that it was actually a "biker bar" - obviously, I've never been, so all I can go by is what's survived in print, and I've just noticed that I never did come to a conclusion about that...
