I always thought the Pre-Chorus ("When the Wind Turns") of Harvest Moon was just G Chords followed by an F, but I've noticed when he plays it live it looks like he plays an open G chord followed by some variation of an F that I've never seen. Seems like he's fretting the F on the 6th string with his 1st finger, the C on the 5th string with his 2nd... and then adding either the D on the 2nd string or the G on the 1st string (or both). I've been messing around with it but cant quite figure out exactly what he's doing here. Believe he does something similar on Teen Archer as well. Anyone know what this is?

open g to f over g but it could be f over a partial c maybe.

Yeah, i’ve tried the F over G. Doesn’t quite sound right though.

That looks like the "Teen Archer/Harvester of Eyes" chord. As far as I know, that's F on 6th string, C on the 5th, D on the 2nd, and G on the 1st, but I could be wrong as I have been before on this forum and I'm not sure which strings are being muted (if any). Don't know if there is a name for this chord other than a variation of F/G.
Actually now that I've looked at multiple "Harvest Moon" videos, it's looks like he isn't playing the 1st string at all, unlike Teen Archer.
