Well, what can I say? This concert was great. I heard many comments on how good the sound was at this venue (Dosey Doe). Acoustics were great. Unlike pretty much everyone else, I had to wear my darn earplugs because of my screwy ears, but even then I could fiddle with them and really hear the show! My wife, sitting across from me, said the sound was REALLY good (no plugs). The customary blue and red moving lights were absent, so we could REALLY see the band "for real". Nice.
The tickets were a little pricey compared to some shows, but I feel we really got our money's worth and would do it again without a second thought. We scored center table, second two seats back across from each other. We were REALLY close to the stage. I was pleasantly surprised. I probably(?) could have moved one seat up, reached over the rail and pushed one of Buck's pedals. Included in the price was a three course meal and all of the soft drinks/tea that you could drink, all served to you. And the waitress we had was great - never an empty iced tea glass in front of me. BTW, the food was really good too.
This was a concert in a close, fairly intimate setting. I heard about 300 people were there. Some were upstairs looking down. Everything was laid back, friendly, and just flat nice. No restrictions on photos/videos, but the venue manager apparently said before the show to be very respectable to everyone else. I didn't hear that (I was somewhere else), but I already knew that. This was considered a "listening place" (keep quiet), but remember this WAS a BÖC concert! :)
The main course was the show. Eric was the default master of ceremonies for the show. He introduced everybody, told the story of how he met Buck, explained the basic premise of LDOM, and a lot of other little things that added a nice touch to the event. The whole band was lively, energetic, and at their best (my opinion). Before the show I was taking pictures of stage stuff, some guys at a table saw that I found a setlist and followed suit. They picked one song and told me to spread the word that they were going to start singing Happy Birthday to Eric right after it, which they did. Eric said it wasn't his birthday, but just one day off and was "close enough for BÖC work" in my opinion.
A photo of a setlist that was taped to the floor is attached, BUT part way through Eric jokingly commented on how everybody was peeking at the setlists, so time to change things up slightly. Not a major deviation, I have the change(s) somewhere in my notes. And there were 3 encore tunes, again in my notes.
Our forum host here, Buck himself, was all smiles and in a good mood. I got to hear his voice this time around like I had never heard before, which was really nice! As you can see in the attached photo, blue suede shoes were in order. Wife and I were so close we could see his fingers move around flawlessly on the cheeseburger in very close 3D. Close up videos you see on YouTube don't do justice to reality!
I have a few more trivia items to add you might find interesting, but will have to add later.
