Lately on the Closing Chord thread, several actors/actresses on police-based shows have past away. Discussions related to their characters spawned discussions about the shows they were in, other actors that were in the shows, the shows they were in, etc.
I've seen discussions in other threads for these type of shows, so there seems to be a common interest by at least some forum members. Shows I've seen mentioned include Bosh, Bosh Legacy, Reacher, NYPD Blue, Hill Street Blues, The Shield, The Wire, Jack Ryan and Miami Vice to name a few. At least one of these had some really good music too!
So I thought I would create this one and just see what happens!

I'll start this thread out with some news about the "Bosh" series and it's spinoffs. The first series was just titled "Bosch", with the main character Harry Bosch played by Titus Welliver. The series was based on best selling novels by Michael Connelly. After seven good seasons, the series concluded. However a series like this can lead to spinoffs. The first spinoff is "Bosch: Legacy". Harry Bosch, again played by Welliver, was not billed as the main character, so before it came out my expectations were lowered. Well, Harry Bosh is still the man! Season 1 has already aired. I always thought it was prime for a second season, so ....... The info below is from www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/bosch-legacy-season-2-premiere-fall-2023.html/ and confirmed in other places."‘Bosch: Legacy’ Season 2 to Premiere in Fall 2023""Amazon renewed its first Bosch spinoff, Bosch: Legacy, ahead of the show’s May 2022 series premiere. Season 2 wrapped filming late last year, according to a tweet from author Michael Connelly. The new episodes will begin streaming sometime in the fall of 2023, Deadline recently reported. Bosch: Legacy Season 2 will draw from Connelly’s 2015 novel The Crossing. The writers also “added new stuff and of course paid off last season’s cliffhanger,” the author tweeted. That cliffhanger saw Harry Bosch’s (Titus Welliver) daughter Maddie Bosch (Madison Lintz), now working as a rookie LAPD officer, apparently being abducted by the screen-cutter rapist." But there's more: A ‘Bosch’ spinoff about Jerry Edgar is in development "In addition to another season of Bosch: Legacy, Amazon is also working on two more Bosch spinoff series. The first will focus on Bosch’s former partner Detective Jerry Edgar, who is tapped for an undercover FBI mission that takes him to Miami’s Little Haiti neighborhood. The Wire alum Jamie Hector is reportedly in talks to reprise his role as Edgar in the as-yet-untitled series." ... AND ... From deadline.com/2023/02/bosch-universe-spinoffs-amazon-studios-j-edgar-renee-ballard-michael-connelly-1235252200/There may be ANOTHER one: "‘Bosch’ Universe Expands With 2 New Series In Works At Amazon Studios Centered On Jerry Edgar & Renee Ballard Characters" “Untitled Renee Ballard” ShowDetective Renee Ballard is tasked with running the LAPD’s new cold case division. Beyond simply investigating unsolved crimes, Renee is dedicated to bringing credibility to the department and justice to the community. Having learned from retired ally and mentor Harry Bosch, Renee does things her way – solving cases in unconventional ways while navigating the politics of being a woman on the rise in the LAPD. EPs: Michael Connelly, Michael Alaimo, Kendall Sherwood So Harry Bosch might be around for awhile. We'll see what all materializes.

All these spinoff series Walking Dead has either two or three spin off series with the timeline reset so characters will be able to play together that didn't previously.

Titus has played good and bad guys I think he was a bad guy in Hack the David Morse show and a mob guy in the series Falcone which was really good.

I've always liked Barney Miller. My favorite episode was the two-part episode where they all have to quarantine overnight in the squad room because they brought in a perp who got sick and they don't know what he's got. No matter how many times I watch that, it's still funny.

You might want to expand that thread title to also include "books", because that's my route into Harry Bosch, for example...

You might want to expand that thread title to also include "books", because that's my route into Harry Bosch, for example... They were my pathway as well. Along with Reacher, Spenser for Hire and a few others. I wish they would bring John Sanfords Prey novels to the the screen as well.

Great show what a cast of characters.Everyone remembers the hash brownies ep.My fave line was the perp caught by Fish who he says -"the old guy jumped from one rooftop to the other" and Fish looks at him and motions with his hand "Come here criminal fella".Vigoda was great in that role.Deffo classic 70's tv.

Titus has played good and bad guys I think he was a bad guy in Hack the David Morse show and a mob guy in the series Falcone which was really good. Titus has appeared in a number of police/legal shows. The list goes on and on, so I'm only listing the ones where he was in 3 or more episodes. The list does NOT even include the movies. NYPD Blue Murder One Brooklyn South Big Apple Sons of Anarchy 1The Good Wife CSI (aka CSI: Las Vegas) The Mentalist Bosch Law & Order SVU Bosh: Legacy Note 1: Sons of Anarchy wasn't really a police show, but it was definitely a crime show. Titus was a major player in 13 episodes. SOA remains one of my all time favorite shows, but it is NOT for everybody. The technical adviser for the show was a real member of the Hell's Angels. In fact several other Hell's Angles appeared in guest roles. A number of actors from the gritty police drama "The Shield" ended up with roles of some sort on SOA. SOA was followed by the spinoff Myans M.C. I've only seen a couple of eps of it because I don't currently get FX.

My local cable provider has the Cozy TV channel. For those of you who like the 70's Era cop/detective shows it's pretty cool. Right now I'm watching an all time fave EMERGENCY! Seeing all the old cars is also a bonus.
