Maybe it's "The Only Thing".George pulled it from YouTube because it was going to be used in an official release of some sort.

Wasn't it played on two nights? It was only played on the first night... > Maybe they just picked the best sounding of the two.
The problem if you start doing things like that is that you lose the integrity of the concept that it's a faithful representation of that first night concert. It's no longer that particular gig - it becomes something else... It's the same sort of deal if you miss a song out, rather than use a different (alternative) source - it becomes the First Night Lite because it's not the full gig... a bit like that AOF Anniversary release where Murray Krugman so helpfully stuck his spanner in the works - as much as you might enjoy the tracks that are on there, it didn't feel right that SOL was missing - the integrity of the DVD's concept had been broken, through no fault of BOC, of course... I dunno, maybe most people won't be bothered by stuff like missing or alternative tracks - I only mention it because things like that aalways seem to nag away at my subconscious, but your own mileages might, and probably do, vary...

Concur with this 100%. Love AOF completely, but True Confessions is NOT an album opener. Definitely not a BOC album opener. And because of ol’ Murray, it’s represented as such on this release. Despite this, I love the entire performance and the Blu-ray is stunning.

Any word leaked yet on what that "special treat" is gonna be? Wait...I'm not sure I want to know. I'm stoked enough for the 50th anniversary set!!! Watch out saying "treat" in October. It's Trick or Treat season!
So in the spirit of Halloween of tricks, treats, and downright devilish behavior I offer you the following clarity (all meant to be in fun and not to be taking seriously!! :) )
"....... Blue Oyster Cult are working to make their fans a very special gift, the details of which will be revealed in due course........" Here's the "treat" version: "A gift or a present is an item given to someone without the expectation of payment or anything in return. An item is not a gift if that item is already owned by the one to whom it is given." Here's the "trick" version - "unwanted gifts" - you'll just have to read that section, it's too long:
Trick or Treat coming?????
Seriously, I'm really looking forward to my concert Blu-ray! May watch on Christmas Day if it arrives in time. And my special gift of course........

either the red box tapes OR a new studio album. no other guessing comes to mind.

I bet you're all wrong - I reckon they've taken inspiration from UFO's "Strangers in the Night" Deluxe box set - if you recall, that original LP was culled from just two shows, despite six being originally recorded to provide the source material, but in the Deluxe version, they featured all six of those original concerts, plus a remastered version of the original record!!
Realising what a wonderful treat it would be for fans if BOC did the same thing with their OYF sources, I reckon they're going to put out a multi-disk entitled "On Your Knees" - we know that at least 8 shows were recorded - probably one or two more!! OK, so the sound will not be up to the usual standards (there'll be no Jack Douglas to clean things up) and yes, we'll finally get to hear all the mistakes, bursts of feedback, etc etc plus we'll be able to spot where solos or other sections where originally removed or "switched in" from other shows etc etc, but BOC's management have finally realised that we don't care, it doesn't matter if the tapes aren't perfect - we just want to hear the gigs!!
And don't forget - the Long Beach gig was broadcast on KNAC a week later (albeit with around 6 songs missing) - obviously, I don't want to tell Mr S how to do his job, but that full KNAC show would make a lovely bonus disk as part of the Deluxe set...
BTW: here's my current best guess of the songs actually played that night, based on newspaper reports etc:
Stairway to the Stars OD'd On Life Itself Career of Evil Before The Kiss Harvester Of Eyes * Dominance and Submission Flaming Telepaths * Subhuman * Hot Rails to Hell * Seven Screaming Diz-Busters Buck's Boogie Cities On Flame Me262 (5 guitars) Encores: Maserati GT * Teen Archer * Last Days of May Born to be Wild
* Not included in KNAC broadcast
So... that's my guess regarding what the "gift/treat" might be, and why, yes, I have been drinking... how did you know...?
