The Broken string…here it is Yep, I was there. The look on his face was… ‘oh oh’ and he kept playing the last few seconds of the song without that string! Here’s my video from the show. He broke a string at the end of Shooting Shark (at 7:44 mark) and then went and grabbed the white Kiesel.. Said he hasn’t changed them in a while and smiled! Buck can make ANYTHING work!!! He’s got that amazing knack!! Enjoy the video.

My wife actually saw this first, but we saw a string fly off the Cheeseburger during LDOM on the "Rock of Ages" Blu-ray. My original posting with fairly decent photo and Buck's comments are at:
I didn't write down the time stamp when it happened, but he was out on the runway if I remember right near the end of LDOM. If you have the disc, it's worth a look - but look fast. The string was flying around all over the place! Buck didn't miss a lick or a pick. Which is why we didn't see this until about the nth time we watched it.

There was a time when each string was intentionally plucked off. Now that sounds like a good story! Details you can share?

Once a year during "String Break".

I can remember several times, during the OYF/AoF/Spectres tours, when at the end of a song, late in the set, Buck would pull each string loose from the neck. Maybe others recollect what song(s) it happened and when, exactly. I can verify for a fact that it did happen, on more than one occasion that I witnessed it, in person. Seems like there’s a video, too, perhaps during the SEE DVD?

Once done he strapped on the SG look alike for DFTR to close the show.

I saw them several times back in those days (AOF tour on) but that memory didn't stick I guess...does seem vaguely familiar though....

The one remaining string from the intentional breakage is to retain the tune-o-matic bridge which would otherwise fly off the guitar if all strings were broken.
We WERE going to play "I Love The Night" as an encore, but after Reaper, the entire crowd was on its feet and pressing the stage, so rockers were a better choice in the moment.

As a fan, coming home after a gig with a tune-o-matic bridge would have been a great step up from the usual beat-up drum stick or guitar plec... my best ever gig swag was at an Aerosmith gig - after "Train Kept a Rollin'" Steven Tyler threw his Hohner harmonica into the crowd - it hit me on the forehead and landed in my lap... still got it and every time I think of it, I keep meaning to try to learn how to play it...

Great story; hopefully you cleaned the harmonica with something akin to a blowtorch.

hopefully you cleaned the harmonica with something akin to a blowtorch. I think the statute of DNA limitations has long expired on that one... although, after watching innumerable series of CSI, I DID once entertain the concept that, in the remote circumstance that I ever killed somebody, I could try rubbing the mouthpiece of the harmonica on the corpse and see what transpired in the subsequent investigations... luckily, that circumstance has firmly remained in the "remote" category... however, if your news feed ever features a weird story about the lead singer of Aerosmith being involved in a murder in a different continent that he couldn't possibly have perpetrated, then forget I mentioned it...
