"So, the venues were generally pleasant and everyone in the band was playing really well, especially Buck. I don't know what super-guitar player pills he was on, but gimmie some of those." So says George G - here's his latest release - a few days old, I know, but I'm slow:

My "ears are melting" as the vol hits 11!

Never believe anything you see or read without some verification. Don't know why Martin would think that.

Yep fabulous again! Always enjoyed it live. According to Martin Popoff's recent book Albert plays lead guitar on the album version. Anyone know if that's true? Don't know why Martin would think that. The only mention I ever saw was in the original Popoff book and it came from a Joe quote: "Heavy Metal was a one-taker," recalls Joe. "I didn't play bass on that. I think Eric played bass on that. They just did it as sort of a goof, and it came out pretty good. Eric should've played more bass! (laughs). I don't know... I think Albert played the guitar. It was just crazy, what they were doing. It was like, let's just do one that is completely crazy. Because everybody had their little jobs to do, and every once in a while we wanted to throw everything out the window and see what we could come up with. And that was an example of that."

I thought it was unlikely having seen you play it several times & it also never occurred to me for all the years I've been listening to it that it was anyone other than you.

If I remember rightly the conversation between Martin & his chums on the song went something like (not verbatim) "well it's okay but Albert isn't Buck when it comes to the guitar, maybe Buck would have made it sound better". I thought that this was odd because it never occurred to that it wasn't Buck playing on HM & also the song & performance are way, way,way beyond okay.

Cool fact about "Heavy Metal": in 6th grade (1978-1979) my teacher told us about a British astrophysicist who came up with a theory that black holes could be used to cross the universe. That astrophysicist was Adrian Berry, some viscount or somethingorother. His book was "The Iron Sun: Crossing The Universe Through Black Holes" from which Sandy took the lyrics (from the chapter titles). A few years later, I would hear my first BOC song ("Burnin") and here I am all these years later. :->
