As you all know, this song is based on the true story of three young men from Long Island (Blue Öyster Cult's home base) who got caught up in a drug deal that went horribly wrong. The three youths travelled to Tucson, Arizona, to make the connection, but when they got there, the two buyers shot them, keeping the money and the drugs. Two of the Long Island men were killed, but one stayed alive and was able to identify the assailants, who were arrested.
The sole survivor of that murder is my father. I’d like to connect with Buck and privately talk to him and share with him the details that my father shared me with about that day.
Thanks for any assistance you can help with making the connection.

LDOM is the most hauntingly beautiful song I've ever heard.
I sure hope you are able to share with Buck.

Rich,
Glad your father made it through the ordeal, and was able to identify the guys that took the lives of the other two. What a terrible situation to have been in. I’m presuming if he would have died, you wouldn’t be here, so especially glad he made it through!
As BÖC fans, we all are interested in all the history behind the band. So, as you can imagine, you have peaked all our interest. I understand some things you may not want to disclose, totally understandable, but after you touch base with Buck, maybe you can fill us in on more than we already know.
Thanks for reaching out here. I’m sure Buck will see this and be in touch. He is a really great guy.

Duck’s article there caused me to look up more about the case. One of the killers escaped from prison in 83, the other paroled in 98.

If you check that link I gave near the top of the page, you'll see the story of what happened to them, so far as it is currently known, plus around 25 news reports of the incident and subsequent trial reporting etc... if you come across any info that's not included there, please let me know and I'll add it...

Is there any info if Rich and Buck were introduced? I know it's very personal and I'm not asking for any details. Just would really like to know if they were able to connect.

Hi folks,
Thanks for the kind replies. Buck did indeed reach out with a private message and as I was told him, I have been busy traveling for work lately and just today finally had time to catch up and write him back. As I said in my initial post, my Dad was the sole survivor in that attack. He didn't tell me about it until about 2011 when I was 29 years old. I've been in the US Army for 21 years (still serving) and at the time, I was a student at the US Army Ranger School. I was having a tough time in the school and really leaned on letters of support from loved ones to help me get through those tough days. Well, one day during the course, I received a letter from Dad and he wrote about the whole incident. I suppose the purpose of him sharing that story was to remind me that I'm a survivor like him -- at this point, I had barely survived an ambush in Iraq just 5-6 years prior. Now I was going through a difficult challenge and he was basically just motivating me to buckle up and drive on, which I did. I graduated the course and Dad and I never really talked about it while face to face -- the letter left out few details and it was compelling. I got the sense he may have been ashamed by the whole thing.
Anyway, Dad is still alive but sadly, he decided to be estranged from his entire family about 8 years ago. I won't get into the details of it now, but it was disappointing. I found out about the song and connection to Buck only recently when I was googling Dad to make sure he was still alive. I found a link about the story that he told me about and I kinda just went down the rabbit hole. My Dad has undoubtedly lived an interesting life -- through the years, I saw things that looking back, have made me more curious. Anyways, thanks again for the kind posts and interest. Be well.

Thanks for the response. I also wish to thank you for your service. For most of us LDOM was a signature piece that we connected to in a real personal way. Over the decades it has become somewhat of a anthem for the best days of rock. For myself songs like Cities and LDOM were critical in my young minds understanding of true intelligent rock. I've spent the better part of my life listening to the song and will probably do so to the end. I wish you well and appreciate your comments OYFOOYK FOREVER 🤘

Rich, your personal connection to the events in "Last Days" is staggering to me and those of us who feel connected to the song and it's narrative.
I feel honored to find out about it and will be respectful to you and your family's involvement. I hope you stick around here and feel free to participate as you'd wish.
