THIS BUCK FORUM RULES.. Buck, Melne, and everyone on the forum, Thanks for all the info I get from here. Reading on the great songs everyone loves. Talking about lyrics,I love listening to the lyrics. To me, that's one of the best parts of the song, so much in thee meaning of the song. The guitar playing is next. Buck is the best there is. The musicians feed is informative.Recognizing that Donald 'Buck Dharma' Roeser is the MASTER GUITARIST OF all times. Being able to hear from Buck himself is The best part. Not having to deal with the social media and all that Crap on Facebook( (although I have the Buck Zone there, it's not filled with drama)) Not having a bunch of drama and gossip is great. No politics is awesome.!! Love that. Again everyone.. Thanks for filling me with knowledge about Buck and Blue Oyster Cult. And thank you Buck and Melne for reading my somewhat crazy posts snag putting up with my weird words. You guys are awesome. Appreciate it. Have a great day

I have always enjoyed this board. The various Facebook groups all vary in quality, and drama. Teh Buck Zone is the best, and there a couple of other good groups too. Unfortunately, the most active group is the one that occasionally has some drama, but overall it's not too bad. I guess when you get over 4000 opinionated rock fans together in the same group there are always going to be a few that have to stir the pot, especially if they are drinking while posting. . The the vault recordings someone posted there a couple years ago are really fun, I listen to them on my Ipod when I am run marathons. I am not real active on any of the groups, my own music has kind of consumed my life for the last couple of years.

This forum has been a blessing and opened a chapter in my dedicated interest in classic hard rock and heavy metal. I could talk to Buck, discover new fans and people like Melne who work for him, and be part of discussions. I know I didn't really make a very detailed response to Buck when he first talked to me on the threads when he posted on my Cinefest thread back in August of last year, but I'll share it right here. His response meant a lot to me. When I had joined the forum a week earlier after learning about it, I really wanted to join the conversations Buck was in and get feedback on my fanart from him. This post is by far the sweetest thing any musician that I highly admire has ever written to me, and I wanna thank Buck again for taking the time to respond to my thread. Hi Emily, it was great meeting you again and your family members. Thanks for the gifts, I'll keep the chocolate Chibi, I won't eat it yet. I especially liked the Cities On Flame drawing, I'll use it as an illustration somewhere if I can. I'm glad you did well on the essay, it was quite good. Meeting people like you is one of the good parts of my job. You come away feeling a little bit better about life. I'm in O'Hare airport writing this, about to fly to Wichita KS and then go to Dodge City to play with Boston tonight.

Some of the FB groups aren't up to much, as far as I'm concerned... how much fun is to keep on saying: "yes, I do agree with you - BOC are fantastic, aren't they...?" I've got no time for blind sycophancy, but unfortunately, there is a LOT of it about...
Blue Oyster Cult are my favourite band and have been so since 1973 - but there are songs - in fact, almost the entire occasional album - that I really do not like, but if I said so in certain groups, I would get threatening messages and be bounced out...
In some places, it seems the expression of a contrary opinion is not only frowned upon, it's actively suppressed... so in the same way that the FBI probably keeps surveillance on different Scientology and other cult groups, I keep an occasional eye on most of the FB BOC groups for the appearance of new info or ticket stubs I don't already have listed etc (though that doesn't happen very often)... but I don't usually interact with them unless I have a pragmatic reason to do so...

I remember when I started listening to Ozzy's music, I literally thought everything he put out was a masterpiece and was the greatest musician I had listened to in my life. I remember when I used to get real defensive too if anybody talked shit or even constructive criticism about him. As I got older though, I started to realize that not all of the music can be that great and I do have to agree with some of the well-thought out criticism that some fans had to share. I also found, especially with how I have been since a couple years ago, that there are bands such as Blue Oyster Cult that I'm listening to more. If I had to give my fair share of criticism of what I didn't like from their discography though, I'd say the Cult Classic album is my least favorite BOC album, because for me generally, albums containing entirely re-recorded hits or consist entirely of cover songs often end up on the bottom of my own personal lists. Even when cover/re-recording albums get the label as studio albums, I don't really consider them studio albums from a musical philosophy standpoint, because they're more in their own separate category. The re-recordings on Cult Classic are actually pretty decent. I especially like the re-recording of ME 262. But if I had the option to choose to listen to the remake or the original, I'd be more inclined to listen to the original.
