Any reaction to the NYC show? I like the clips on youtube. I can't stop rewatching this performance of The Revenge of Vera Gemini.

Any reaction to the NYC show? I like the clips on youtube. The very few clips that exist look pretty damn good - but apparently there would have been a lot more footage if there hadn't been a clamp down on anyone recording at the gig - and things have got worse since then - at the Tangier 2 nights later, EB admonished people from the stage that "this wasn't a youtube performance" and even Woody's got in on the act - he apparently even left his board to rip a phone out of a girl's grasp who was trying to get some footage and was screaming at her "this is no fucking joke"... The next day all BOC recordings were removed from dimeadozen, the entire historical archive, in fact, much to the consternation of all concerned... I'm just waiting for the youtube clips to be censored and removed... I don't know what's brought this on - some people reckon it might have something to do with the impending DirectTv thing or maybe there are plans afoot of which we know nothing, and maybe the thought is that people won't buy any new product if we've already seen or heard some wobbly fanshot footage of it on youtube. To think like this, however, is to demonstrate a fundamental lack of understanding of how being a fan works - fans buy the official releases to support their band, no matter what, because that's what fans do... Anyone who is content with just a rough recording from a gig would probably not be the sort of person who'd definitely buy a prospective release anyway... The fact is - Dimeadozen has actually helped to promote BOC, and fostered, nurtured and sustained an interest in the band during some VERY lean times, so to do this now is misguided, and a rather sad state of affairs in my opinion... That said, as I mentioned at the start, I did enjoy the couple of clips I've seen of the BB Kings show, and hope they get to stay online...

I had a blast and thought the show was great. I sensed (could be wrong) it a little tense for you guys first couple songs...then odd to hear it early in the set Reaper... which was cool to hear played like the album...while everything fell into place quickly. Loved Ritchie on MF and Kasims contributions on Tenderloin. Those guys rock.
Albert was mindblowing for me. Didnt know what to expect from him but his vocals were great and his enthusiasm and love for this music was purely infectious. How much I enjoyed Debbie Denise live might have been the biggest shock for me.
Nice short break. 2nd set was stellar choices played well. Only thing that would be cool was if more Joe songs were on the album and he came and jammed with everyone. All in all a really great time. For having never been played before...awesome band you got there. Big fun as I heard someone say. ;-)

I never heard about Dimadozen and those removed fan recordings until now, and I'm shocked. I've always admired BOC for having a unique connection with its audience, compared to many other music artists that I follow, and for Eric to allow a move like that is both out of nowhere to me and sad.
Furthermore, it's been over 10 years since BOC released a live dvd, and I haven't heard anything about a recorded show for official purchase to digitally watch, so when these fan-recorded videos are uploaded onto YouTube or elsewhere on the web, I don't see what's being threatened.
I find it ironic that few people are able to upload entire live dvd movies on youtube while getting away with copyright infringement, yet when many people upload fan footage that doesn't relate to an official release-supported show/tour at all, even if the video quality is not the best, many music artists these days will get so fixated in taking those down.

Any reaction to the NYC show? I like the clips on youtube. My reaction is, don't do this exclusively in the States, give us Europeans at least one chance to sample this unique gig and bring Albert and Joe over with you. None of us are getting any younger Buck!

Thanks for the youtube show mention Buck. Just went and found it....listened to it in full....7.2 Stereo...about 2/3 volume...dinner music. ;-) I will say this.................
Holy shit.
To confirm my feelings of my earlier post...What a performance.
Who was the last person Eric mentioned as thanks at the end ?
Thrilled this point in time for the band...along with AB included....is captured forever. It would be a sin not to. That performance was hot.

I REALLY like the clips that are available. I always felt that Reaper to Tenderloin is the best run of songs in my collection. I don't do DIME, so I do not have a heavy take on that issue. But over on the Fan Site, it seems there are stronger feelings. With Buck asking how we like the videos on the Post, it throws confusion in the Mix. The End-All-Post-Killer usually ends up with something like Steve only does what the band wants. I think someone violated an ask not to post something and it hurt all the Hard Cores who would buy 2 or 3 of everything.
Maybe Buck could have a secret code for the Dime, like we do in the Asylum Politics thread at J and A's. The reality is, at one time, there was only a few Hard Core traders...Bolle CultJacket, etc. But now, with the Internet, the Europeans want the taste we have had in the States, expanding those that can be trusted.

Well, the clips are cool, Vera Gemini is awesome, Albert's guitar is very low in the mix during the 5 guitars and too bad there is no Morning Final on Youtube. Now, as a nice french guy, what do I think of what Ralph said ? I got the complete audio show before the Dime ban (which is awesome by the way, the show, not the ban). Does someone really thinks it will hurt my will to buy an official release of the show ? of course not. Does someone really thinks one will prefer a less than stellar (even if awesome) recording to a pro recorded one ? (especially when it's possible for everybody to get the official recording freely if they really want to rip off the band...) Because if there is a ban to enforce it's on the official tracks that are everywhere on Youtube. Everywhere. Youtubers want to listen to a BÖC album, or even a Buck Dharma Archives, they can. But why banning something that only please hardcore fans ? that I don't understand... (and can I understand the banning of a particular show, no problem, but there were shows from the 70s on Dime...) Well, I'd like every BÖC show to be available freely or not. I'd also like the F***ing Red Box to be released because there are gems that are said to be legendary. Even in an limited and expensive way... Please. And yes, at 52, I still believe in Santa Claus.
I understand that from an answer to Buck's question, it derived to a rant... but well...

I listened to the entire show before work one day. It was the Soundcloud that was on FaceBook. It is not there now. The Impressions of it were 1. Reaper sounds SO good stripped down to the original. More BDBish 2. E.T.I was my favorite song from Agents. It may not be now, but E.T.I. deserves more play live. The Sing along was epic. 3. Albert's voice and participation rang a lot truer to my ears this time (as opposed to the Death Valley Nights gig).
We ALL miss Albert's voice and participation. He really delivered.
True Confessions. Wow, hope to see it in one of the two upcoming shows.
BIG fan of Side B of Agents, so I was tickled to see that run.
Hopefully, the Soundcloud reappears. It gave a unique experience focusing in on the music, not a YouTube. I join those that like the audio experience more than the video, thus all the clamoring for new material.

Mr Roeser, you really nailed True Confessions! I like Reaper better in A Minor so kudos to that. I think musically, you guys really nailed morning final.
What's all this hub bub on the cell phone videos?

I love this video of the Revenge of Veri Gemini. Great song sung with a ton of enthusiasm. I can only imagine how cool it would've been to have been there to see it live. I'll be seeing BÖC in Colorado in June when I'm visiting my brother...hope they keep this one in the set list.

I'm surprised not more people haven't mentioned morning final into tenderloin. The train sound into it was awesome! The moodiness of the Tenderloin verses was so cool... Synth was nailed.
The harmonies on tattoo vampire were wonderful. Great to hear the deep cuts. Hope ETI is back for good, and hope dominance is the new show opener for a while.

For the majority of us who could not make the show, we were looking forward to seeing lots of video of the performance. I am very disappointed that steps to remove this show and past videos from several places were taken. Not a very fan-friendly decision, IMO.

What could/should have been multiple in-depth and informative discussions (on multiple boards) regarding the AoF shows has turned (mostly) into a mini-PR disaster - FWIW - for the band regarding the hard-core fan community (the ones that actually buy the product); having said that...
True Confessions was a genuine treat; Albert sang like a bird and his enthusiasm was genuine and contagious; I felt bad for Eric as he didn't seem to be in his best voice and there were a few lyrical lapses/timing issues on some of the rarer tracks; Richie did an excellent job with the keyboard performance/palette, his playing and sounds were dead on.
