This looks good. Have you seen The Wrecking Crew documentary on Netflix. It was about a group of studio musicians from the 60s and 70s. It was amazing to see how many groups used these guys to play on their albums. There's a really good documentary.

Yea, that looks really good. Love stuff like this. If I were a teacher I would show this to today's students. We have such a great music history, shame not to recognize it.

Just sent a copy to my friend B.G.Rhule who just had her Sam Cooke book 4th edition hit the stores(with some updates)-I need to get that I have another Cooke bio that's very good but B.G. has been in contact with many more family members to get a more complete story. She's currently working on a Lou Rawls bio again with family members(Rawls history goes back to gospel where he and Cooke sang at different times in the same group) and of course Rawls is the second voice on Bring It On Home To me. A little plug for a good friend. BTW If you never got the Berns book(recommended by Buck)get it along with Always Something In The Air a great book on the Brill Building songwriters(and a great companion piece to the A&E Brill Building Bio) Tommy James book probably goes into more detail on the mob involvement and my .02 on a story that a friend told me was that James had a meeting with Mo Levy -Roulette Records and famous for being mobbed up, at a warehouse in Brooklyn where he made money demands on Levy and as the story goes Levy had Shane Shepherd (of The Heartbeats and Shep & the Limelites) tied up and Levy tells James "This guy wants money too" and he proceeds to shoot Shephard.Shepherds body was found in a car on the Belt Parkway and my friend says he spoke to someone who was in the warehouse that night.Crazy stuff.

The Bert Burns documentary, "Bang," is out on iTunes. I watched it free with an Apple Music subscription. Don't know what or if they charge if you don't subscribe.
It's pretty good, lots of interviews with period artists and producers, and of course, the music. Narrated by Steven Van Zant. Recommended.

]I read Something In the Air a few years ago due to buck posting it. It was a very good book. As far as Tommy James.. I would be interested as well as your friends book. The Shondells were from a small town called Greensburg, PA . From what i know, he .. Tommy James came into a small bar there, where the Shondells were playing and the rest was history.. he wanted them... A DJ named Clark Race on KDKA in Pittsburgh pimped Hankey Pankey and there became Tommy James and the Shondells. Life wouldn't be the same without that happenstance. They were great. Ha, Draggin the Line just came on Pandora.. Karma
Crimson and Clover what a classic for all times..
