Hi,
Several years ago, I bought Club Ninja, this was a few days into it's UK release. I played this record to death (almost). In 2002, I lost my copy, but I was unaware as I still had the cover. Not long after discovering this, I repurchased another copy on vinyl only to find that Madness to the Method sounded different. Has this been rerecorded on later releases or are my ears getting too old. I was sure the original version ended with a ripping guitar solo played slightly in the background, similar to the ending of Frankenstein. Where as I can only really hear piano, over chords on the "other" version.
Is this the case, or has the madness finally consumed me..
Thanks

The UK mix was different to the US release...
This still doesn't mean you're NOT mad though...

Sandy Pearlman remixed some of "Ninja" for the UK release, for what purpose I don't know. I'm not sure I have a copy of that version. Alas, my vinyl records were fairly well destroyed by my kids growing up.

Alas, my vinyl records were fairly well destroyed by my kids growing up. I always thought that SP remixed Club Ninja after the rushed UK mix, which would have been in that case the original mix... (and I really prefer the UK mix, or at least the memories I have from it...)

We in the UK got a sort of "pre-mix" version of CN in November 1985 to have it out in time for the UK tour that began 24 Nov 85 - then there was a Dutch version that came out in December 85 (I never owned this so I don't know what mix it was) - dunno why it got a "pre-release" in Holland, as there was no tour there - and then the LP finally came out in the US in January 86.

I love the live version of Make Rock Not War with the ripping solo at the end where the studio version does not have

I got the extended versions of MRNW and White Flags from my buddy Phil at Zig Zag Records in Brooklyn.I think he made me a cassette-not sure if I actually got the record.Never knew there was another version of Madness a great tune and an all-time BOC fave.
