Yeah & in the 1980's I was very briefly in Deep Purple after passing an audition conducted using Morse Code for their US tour. Sadly my managers dog was secretly working for the Drug Squad at the time & this led my manager being busted & buying a cat so I couldn't face the tour & it all fell through. I'm also not listed on their Wikipedia page.

I knew Nate Mendel from the Foo Fighters way before FF existed so I helped to create the Foo Fighters.

About 15 years ago, there was a crash of a Continental commuter plane landing in Albany NY, all passengers and crew perished. I was living in Florida, and in the papers there was a story about a Florida man killed in the crash. He'd been a musician among other vocations and his relatives said he'd once been a member of Blue Oyster Cult. Of course it was news to me.
It came up on early internet discussions, and I figured out it was probably a guy who'd worked for us briefly in the early 70's, who was a player and really wanted to join the band. He actually made a pitch to me that he'd be much better than Allen in the band. He didn't last long as a guitar tech and moved on.
There was a thought that I should debunk the claim that he was in the band, but I didn't have the heart to piss on the memory of him that his kids had of their dad's time in BOC.

I never heard of that... do you recall his name...? And if so, would you be prepared to divulge it...? Just for future reference...

I can't remember his name, you could probably search for the news story about the plane crash in a Florida newspaper. I think it came up in the old AOL board or somewhere else. I wouldn't mention or publicize it other than in this context of people claiming they were in BOC. I don't plan on documenting this guy we're talking about here and now either. Fake news.
