I'm looking for a good physical Preamp and/or IR pedal or good-quality plugin for recording. After 15 years together my band really wants to record an album, albeit not professionally because we don't have that kind of money. I've used some free plugins and they're.... okay.
Generally speaking, I have my pedalboard set up and I record into my Zoom R-16, and I don't export anything to a DAW until I have all the tracks recorded. While I used to run through an amp, mic it, record the mic and monitor with headphones, I live in a townhome now and I have four dogs. I'd really rather just record direct, so in order to do that I need something that will make it sound as best as it can like it's being mic'd.
Does anybody have a favorite pedal or plugin that they use for this? It doesn't matter as much to me whether I do it live or with a plugin afterwards, just as long as it sounds good in the final product.
