A 90% efficacy rate on a COVID vaccine if true is HUGE news! My mother was a clinical research scientist in vaccine development until her retirement and when her team released the world's first MMR + Varicella vaccine, you couldn't even dream of being as happy as she was. The people at Pfizer must be over the moon if this is as promising as they say. Talk about people who take pride in their work!

Moderna is apparently on a similar track as Pfizer, which could enhance the progress.
Some issues: Annual injection in two stages; Complex storage requirements; Getting early people to buy in.
But certainly major steps!
I was watching something, and the temperature needed to store it was really cold. The buy in is going to be a problem. The conspiracy theories range from mild to preposterous(apolitical post, being very careful).

That's a major issue right now.Keeping it cold enough .It can be done at some places but not in enough places.Well that's one issue not the only one but a major one.But overall some promising news.
I haven't heard that. Pfizers big issue is it has to stay at minus 100 degrees to stay stable. That's a severe logistical problem. My friend in Australia is getting vaccinated in January. They have a bunch of different vaccines in the works.

Both the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are annual?
I may have spoken too soon about the shot being annual; but for Pfizer, two injections are required about a month apart. I'm not sure about the issues of additional annual shots or occasional booster shots for Pfizer or Moderna.
I finally received Moderna shot #1 yesterday. My arm is sore, but I am still breathing. Here in CT it is nearly impossible to get an appointment, the wife is scrambling and waking up at 3AM to find a slot.
I'm scheduled to get the Johnson & Johnson vaccine on Friday. My wife got it last week and it made her ache for two days, BUT she also slept soundly for the first time in a while.

To each his own is what they say. Do whatever is best for yourself I say. I have no desire to change anyones mind either way.
Meantime the FED CDC Director Walensky stated this Fact last week....
“people over the age of 65, mortality rates have dropped from 16 out of every 100,000 in January to 1 in 100,000 now”, she added, “so we’re getting that early evidence this vaccine is working.”
Thankful this option exists for those who may want it.
Got the Astra Zeneca / Oxford vaccine #1 three weeks ago, #2 in early June. No side effects whatsoever (touch wood!). My wife had her second Pfizer jab on Thursday and had a sore arm for 24 hours but that was it.
Sigh...remember the old days when getting dosed meant something completely different?
Got "dosed" yesterday, and I got a weird side effect I've never heard about: I was wifty but also with short term memory issues to the point where I was having a hard time finishing thoughts and remembering what I started saying.
The last time I felt like this was when I took one of somebody's prescription weed pills (they offered me one, don't judge lol) and I became obsessed with buying a case of pizza bagel bites at 3am.
I got the Johnson & Johnson shot so I won't have to get it a second time. Very relieved to have had the vaccine.
