Friday will be Lynn & Me’s 6/7th show since July 4th. It has been quite the ride for us. Not only is The Symbol Remains our favorite album, but we’ve both been out of our minds for a few months, not having seen our grandkids for 3. So Blue Oyster Cult was chosen for our 2021 therapy! I meant to write some reviews of the last four, starting with North Tonawanda, NY. Riviera Theatre. Absolutely The Show of The Year. The Riviera is Beautiful. Sound? Impeccable. It stirred the thought of the entire set being incredible stories. I’ve heard Before The Kiss a hundred times Live, but this was special. Just incredible. I was taken to another World, not once, but twice in one song. Golden Age, Shark, most of the setlist were the best versions I’ve ever heard. We met John Wiesenthal after and that was cool. Lynn proved Alcohol isn’t the perfect mix when in Blue Oyster Cult Therapy, (and apparently, I found the same at the Texas Shows 😊 )
The Hammondsport show was spectacular for different reasons. Beside the backdrop of beautiful Keuka Lake, Eric told story after story of The 60’s Finger Lakes. Talk about a StoryTeller, Eric made us feel we were in a Finger Lakes Band House and proud to be New Yorkers. I got to see my College roommate. Him and I did a 2 hour Radio special on WETD before BOC played Alfred, NY.2 hours of Blue Oyster Cult with a heavy emphasis on The Black And White Era. He was front row Center for the show and got an eyeful.
The September Texas Show saw BOC play 2 unique venues, both trying desperately to exit COVID Life with Class. It was great to see BOC play Quirky venues (I’d include Hammondsport and the 2 Texas shows in that) and it fueled my continued thought of The StoryTellers vibe.
So Friday is our final 2021 show and this review of the previous four end my BOC Therapy for now.
We are a little less damaged from known and unknown circumstances after our 2021 Blue Oyster Cult run.
Thank you, Buck, for being so kind to us this year, when we were our absolute worst mentally.
After all, there’s nothing like a good Blue Oyster Cult Story.
