So what makes a band or performer Hall of Fame worthy? Good question...not to mention, why do some bands take so long to get in. Here's an example...The Clash were inducted in 2003, yet...bands that came out long before them didn't get in until afterwards: Neil Diamond, ELO, Moody Blues, Black Sabbath....to name a few. And then you have what I would term "fringe bands" like Bon Jovi. What has he done that would be termed as innovative, or barrier breaking? He's popular....big deal. Another one; T Rex....a dare someone to name five songs off the top of your head....letting in T Rex is like letting in Iron Butterfly. There was originally a pecking order, but the thing lost its way, and has also watered it down with basic rock groups that IMO don't define "excellence or innovation". And then they opened the flood gates of non-rock bands like Miles Davis, Run DMC, Donna Summer, ABBA, etc...and then you have a band like The Zombies....like them or not...why would it take until 2019? Call it what it is....a rock and roll, and music museum.

The main requirement seems to be the attitude of the board to the bands that they want in the HOF. That, and of course $$$$

It was a nice place to visit my GF was doing a company audit and she flew me out and then back home on Sunday.Best part of the short stay was eating at Lindy's Lake House their organic chicken was the best I ever had even better than Hattie's in Saratoga. Oh BTW I dug the stuff on Atlantic Records at the HOF.It's a shame BOC might never get the nod but perhaps if Metallica or someone lobbies for them that will work.Sometimes that's all it takes Bonnie Raitt helped get blues singer Charles Brown and R&B great Ruth Brown in very early.

I live only 45 minutes from the place. Have been there a few times when friends from out of town insist on seeing it. I would rate the experiences all as “underwhelming” at best

I would rate the experiences all as “underwhelming” at best sounds like the Experience Music Project in Seattle. Although I did like reading Jimi Hendrix’s letters home from the Army, and I was looking for the bass that Krist Novoselic dropped on his own head at the MTV music awards, but I don’t think it was there or it wasn’t marked as such.

I got my copy of Kiss Unplugged at the R&RHOF. Other than that it was unremarkable in every way. I have never watched a single induction ceremony, probably never will. It's as much a joke as he Grammy Awards.

Let me add....its process of voting is clearly biased against progressive rock and hard rock/ metal bands. To think, Aerosmith was inducted in 2001, yet Black Sabbath wasn't inducted until 2006....Tom Waits inducted 2011, and Yes inducted 2017 are examples of how the place has lost any credibility IMO. And while I don't have a problem with any of them being in a so call RRHOF, the fact of letting one in when the other has been around longer is slighting all of them in my eyes. But in the end, we all know it is simply about making money, and having broad appeal over common sense.
