I recently saw a photo on FB of Buck playing a Sunburst LP. Judging by him rockin the mullet and the leather pants, I would expect him to be playing the original small body Stienberger. Anyone have any info on the Starburst?

Is the photo you're referring to one of these? Don't know who took these photos, sorry, but I came across them while researching the guitars of BÖC. It seemed like photos with Buck playing Les Paul Sunbursts showed up a few times during several different eras, which makes me think they were either a common guitar to rent or the backup of the backup guitar.

That's it! I've seen the tobacco burst but never the sunburst.

Looks like an LP Standard...Cherry Sunburst...I have LP Deluxe in same finish...great playing, beautiful guitars...made to sound even better when in the hands of Buck!

Oh I thought Buck and Sandy did a cover of How High The Moon(IMO one of the coolest songs ever).

I don’t know how anybody could play an entire concert with those heavy-ass guitars. They sound great but holy hell do they hurt after a while.

After a few months of gigs they're no longer heavy...actually everything else becomes too light and flimsy feeling compared to a Les... At least was my experience back in day when I played full time.
