Geez. There won't be another Bowie as far as I can imagine. The music will endure. Coincidentally, I just watched a Spiders From Mars concert at the Hammersmith Odeon in the '70's. Great stuff.

The first 45 I ever bought was Bowie's "Space Oddity". I was about eight or nine years old, and I was interested in the Apollo space missions and SkyLab and I was intrigued by the song's lyrics about an astronaut getting lost in space. Then I flipped it over and played the B side "The Man Who Sold the World" and heard that awesome bass riff. Been a fan ever since.

Never was an outright fan, but there's no denying the talent, vision, output, and impact of DB; I thought Heroes was outstanding. RIP.

Black Star, his last record, is a masterpiece. What I've heard so far on this, it sounds like the Soundtrack of his Passage to the Other Side...

This has been one that hit me hard among a seeming flow of great musicians that seem to be leaving us way too often these days

I haven't shared this with the forum yet, but I've been listening to Bowie's Blackstar album, I must have heard it 30 times by now.
I think it's a masterpiece. I think it's Sgt. Pepper's. It's that good. It's not catchy in a pop or bubblegum way, but I recommend just listening and let it wash over you. It's 43 minutes long, and stunning. I can't imagine a better parting shot as an artist from anybody. I haven't been as excited and moved by an LP recording as this one in decades.
