They just should fit the song, and Albert (and now clearly Jules) know how to find that groove. In contrast, the drummer for the Cars, a band i love, was just..... there.

Been a BOC fan for about as long as I've drummed, and could always play along to their stuff, but the intricacies of the drumming is where it all gets tricky. Especially what Albert did on the first 3 albums. Tear yourself away from the guitars and keys (I know it's hard) for a bit and just listen to Albert's drumming. What he's doing is NOT easy. And it was also a kick to watch him close during his Brain Surgeons days, playing a small kit, and how he could just groove it. Like all of the BOC musicians, very underrated.
I will say that Jules plays most similarly to Albert. I've pretty much enjoyed all of the drummers who helped drive the BOC bus: Ron Riddle, Bobby R., Chuck Burgi. I especially liked Burgi. He helped propel their live shows in the early-'90s, and sounds fantastic, still, on HF and on the 2 Bad Channels tracks. I saw him with Billy Joel last year, and he still brings it.

Chuck Burgi was a monster. in a good way. but my fave after Albert and ex-aequo with Jules was John Miceli.

Burgi was a great fit and he of course took over for Phil Collins in Brand X A terrific journeyman his brother is an actor who had a big role in the first season of 24.

Chuck is great. He just did a record for Frontiers with Greg Smith and a couple other guys I don't know.

I think I saw Greg Smith with Tommy James.I remember Tommy Z would e-mail if he did an oldies gig-I recall he did a gig with Little Anthony and there was a doo wop group in Jersey he said he had played with in the 80's.Who I saw in the 90's long after he had left.

Finally got my copy yesterday. A lot more convenient than the MP3 file with the entire album on it. I tried putting that file on my old Zen to play in the car Sunday, could not find the damn file. This just slides into the player in the car.
